Totally agree. Bizarrely the one thing I was with Jones on is the fact that Simmonds is not a test 8.

The leaked selection is: Genge, George, Sinckler, Itoje, Ewels, Lawes, Curry, Simmonds, Randall, Smith, Nowell, Slade, Marchant, Malins, Steward.

But that is from ruck via mailonline.....

Not exactly sticking their neck out with that though, are they?  Aside from maybe Daly for Marchant, and assuming that Dombrandt is unavailable, that team was inevitable.

Bench:  Blamire; Marler; Stuart; Launchbury or Chessum; Barbeary; Youngs; Ford; Daly

Well, given the 26, there wasn't much room for manoeuvre. But with all those players able to play in any shirt, it probably doesn't matter....Total Rugby, here we come.......

Side is exactly as predicted above.  However, Dombrandt is on the bench, so no place for Alfie.

I suspect that Alfie will be retained as a 'travelling reserve' if he was in the original squad but dropped out as Dombandt is no longer ill

I still can’t square the feeling I have when I see England line ups now. The players are good. Most would make some changes but on the whole they are good. So why am I filled with zero excitement.

+1

Personally, it's the level of guff involved with England - alongside the two worst 6Ns seasons that seem to be excused by Eddie Fans as part of the "obvious" progress. And the stories about Jones' input to teams in the past seems ignored. And his treatment of people is such that I find following a team led by him hard to marry with what I'd hope are my own values. (To sound rather up myself...!)

I’m the same. I shall watch England more with optimism than expectation.

The international I’m looking forward to is France v Wales, France are becoming a pleasure to watch.

Even though I am no fan of fast Eddie I am desperate for England to win any test we play. However like others I look at the team and think they can be a match for anyone. But it is Eddie Jones, how he sets us up, how he micromanages, how he seems to have little empathy for the players, and tries to be too clever for his own good. To hear him say we are not going to play attacking rugby until the world cup, or player positions don't really matter is perplexing and befuddling all in one.

Ireland are strong favorites for this test. They have consistency in selection, settled combinations, and also most importantly can play for 80 minutes. We are so in and out of a test in terms of intensity and control that this could be painful viewing.

I truly think we have the resources and players to be consistently at the top al la the ABs. I think the weakness is the head coach.
