SRU throwing money away?
« on: January 14, 2020, 03:58:50 PM »
From the BBC:

"Scottish Rugby's highest earner more than doubled their money for the year up to 31 May 2019 compared to the previous 12 months.

The group's accounts showed their "highest paid director" had received £933,000 in salary and benefits.

That's an increase of £478,000 on the 2018 figure.

Released figures refer to a 'Long Term Incentive Plan' to "attract, retain and incentivise participating employees over longer term periods and achieve alignment with the organisation's medium and long term strategic initiatives and targets"."

That is some incentives package... I hope they can justify that, or the Scottish Pro14 teams might be asking why they don't deserve a similar boost in funding.

Jobs for the boys. Knows the right person, went to the 'right' school. It's what is wrong in our society. Pigs with their snouts in the trough.

Calm down Nelly. You’re supposed to be convalescing  ;)

It’s a bit like a reverse Saracens. This time the top managers are looking after themselves when they are supposed to be developing Scottish rugby.

Tolkien is often quoted as saying 'It is the most improper job to lead other men.
Not one in a million is suitable for it, least of all those who seek it'.

Pretty much covers it- sometimes it is not even old boy networks, it is the fact that a certain type of person seeks power.

Rugby seems particularly prone to the worst. Most people get into the game because of the spirit, camaraderie, etc. Sad that at the top we constantly get the embodiment of selfishness.
'We are all in it together', except at the top.
