Wuss Injury list for Sat
« on: January 22, 2020, 05:10:04 PM »
Greetings Waspies.

From our DoR’s weekly press conference yesterday, here’s our current injury list.

How are your lot getting on?

Injuries

Callum Black will miss this match but we hope he might be back during the course of the next block of Premiership matches.
Niall Annett’s shoulder is still not right.
Conor Carey is out for the rest of the season with a ruptured Achilles tendon.
Andrew Kitchener has taken bangs to his shoulder so he won’t be available this weekend.
Francois Hougaard has some fluid in a toe and won’t be considered for selection this week.
Melani Nanai is probably going to require surgery on his shoulder injury.
Ed Fidow pulled a hamstring playing for Cavaliers last night.
Justin Clegg is seeing a specialist about his knee injury but we hope he will be available when we return from our break.
Dean Hammond should be back playing between mid and late March.
Alex Hearle is making good progress and he could be back around late February.
Tom Howe trained today and should be fine for Saturday.
Joe Morris is unlikely to play again this season.
Farai Mudariki is close to coming back.
Oli Morris is on the verge of coming back but wasn’t quite ready to play for Cavaliers last night.
Michael Fatialofa’s condition shows some positive sign of improvement. We are hopeful that he will make a full recovery but he remains in intensive care in hospital in London.

Goodness, that’s worse than our injuries.
We seem to be in fortunate position that some of our injured players have recovered in time for the Worcester match.

All of it is irrelevant.

I just hope Fatialofa's condition continues to improve

Hooker Tom Cruse is out for up to two weeks after hurting his knee away in Agen
Joe Launchbury requires a scan on his knee after suffering blow against Bordeaux, but is going away with England on Wednesday
Malakai Fekitoa's knee knock from the same game, he will be having a scan. Both are as a precaution at this moment
Jacob Umaga has passed his head injury assessment protocols after the aerial collision against Northampton Saints that saw Tom Collins red carded. However, like Launchbury, he is away with England from Wednesday
Second row James Gaskell, who has missed 11 games with a shoulder injury that required surgery, trained last week and should be available for selection.
Kieran Brookes and Thomas Young were ruled out last week with illness but have recovered
Centre Juan de Jongh is contention after overcoming an ankle injury he suffered against Agen
Marcus Watson is struggling with an Achilles strain that saw him miss out against Bordeaux
Matteo Minozzi passed his HIA protocol last Friday. He is away most of the week with Italy but should be available for selection this weekend
Sam Spink (groin) and Paolo Odogwu (broken finger) are both back in full training
Brad Shields (foot) could return to training later this week after five games out
Loose-head prop Zurabi Zhvania (knee) is edging nearer to a return to training, which could come next week
Callum Sirker and Ben Vellacott are long-term injury absentees, both are rehabilitating from reconstructive ACL knee surgery

Taken from the Cov Tel. Numerically there isn't a lot in it, but with Launch and Umaga out it does raise a concern or two...

Thanks for the update guys, doesn’t seem a lot in it.

I’ve put both lists onto a thread, hopefully it will be updated as/if required.

Thanks for your concern and interest.

Update today in Worcester News:-

MICHAEL Fatialofa’s recovery appeared to take another step forward yesterday (Tuesday) when he tried eating for the first time in more than two weeks.

The Warriors ace has been in hospital since January 4 having sustained spinal damage during a 62-5 defeat at Saracens.

The club reported Fatialofa had successful surgery to alleviate "bruising and swelling on his spinal cord" which left him with "reduced power and sensation in his arms and legs".

He has since been recovering in intensive care (ICU) in London with wife Tatiana Fatialofa posting updates via Instagram.
She reported that Fatialofa “could be out of ICU” this week and has in the past hour suggested he could be moved today.

Late last night Tatiana posted: “Praise God that he is at least able to try (pureed) food for the first time in 2.5 weeks! Feeding tube [is] still in but we count every bit of progress.”

Asked about Fatialofa's progress at Tuesday's press conference, Worcester's director of rugby Alan Solomons said: "The feedback I have had is positive.

Still hugely concerning, but it's fantastic to hear that there is good news.

Thank you for posting

I know there will be insurance etc, but I would recommend utilising the generosity of rugby supporters here. Presumably he will want to go home at some stage and wont have the NHS support that we take for granted.

I would happily contribute to a fund to help him in the future.

That's a great idea. I'd contribute, and happily publicise a campaign here.

Some things are more important than what colour shirt someone wears.

It pales into insignificance compared to the horrific injury that Michael Fatialofa sustained, but could the length of the Warrior's injury list have anything to do with the fact that they play their home games on the dreaded plastic pitch?

There is certainly a continual rumbling around the subject. Specifically, players have been reported as feeling that footing is less likely to give under pressure, ie studs seem to lock into the surface on occasion. All apocryphal of course, not claimed as inside information.
