Just broke the news to my daughter expecting tears but she said she wasn't sad she was angry.
Fortunately she has a zoom martial arts lesson now to take it out in although I am hoping not to be called on to hold the contact pads tonight!

Unless I'm wrong he is two short of 200 games so could he not be retained for the rest of this season - rather like Robshaw at Quins.
Let me tell you something cucumber

Very sad.

It feels like a bereavement within the family.

Best wishes Ashley.

That is a brilliant suggestion, Neils.  I wonder if the powers that be have thought of it too.  It would be so great if it was possible., but maybe be too good to be true.  Sadly, you can't guarantee tries.

Players come, stay and go..very few become Wasps legends.
For me he is in this category...sad news.

I genuinely think this is a mistake. I realise that logically he isn't first or even second choice in either position he plays currently, but he is a genuine Wasps legend and for him to not get a new contract, and no send off either seems wrong.

I also think he is the most popular player in the squad by a long shot with the younger end of the fanbase and when he goes we will lose a lot of them.

Like all above, Mrs FW and I are so sorry to see Ashley depart. Has become a Wasps legend over the last eight years.
Here's wishing him good luck whatever path he now follows.
All the best, Ash, we will treasure our "Ashley wigs" too.

Some players bring great individual talent that then helps their team to achieve Then there are those that bring out the best in everyone and lift not just the team, but the whole club and its fans. A rare individual indeed and Ash is one of them. Many thanks and good luck with what comes next.

Gutted Ash is leaving, seeing all the fan photos of him today on social media shows what a special signing he has been.
I know he has a lot of competition ahead of him now but I am very surprised we haven’t tried to get him on a cheaper deal for maybe one year - especially with how settled his family must be locally.
From that I wonder if he had a better offer.
Rumours he’d turned down a move to the Bulls and the the rumour was that he’d be doing some UK coaching - definitely got another few years in him I’m sure and would serve someone well, look forward to seeing what he’s up to next

Smashley will be sorely missed and Wasps Legend isn't too big an accolade for him.

I'd still of wanted him to come off the bench at blindside and run some hard straight lines at tiring is defenders.

Hopefully where he plies his trade next will appreciate him as much as we do.

and who was backing up for Wade's try? None other than Matt Mullan! Great wheels!
