Prem Cup
« on: November 07, 2021, 09:48:15 PM »
Who on earth are we going to field for the Prem Cup? A complete dead rubber but im assuming we’re obliged to field a side of sorts. I wouldn’t dream of playing anyone from today’s 23 so here goes!
1) As yet unknown loanee
2) As yet unknown loanee
3) Alo
4) Cardall
5) As yet unknown loanee
6) Curran
7) Morris
8) As yet unknown loanee
9) Wolstenholme
10) Mathews
11) Bacon
12) As yet unknown loanee
13) As yet unknown loanee
14) Mehson
15) As yet unknown loanee

Replacements must all be loans. Can’t see any other way. And would offer a “bye” if allowed.

I hope Ma’asi-White gets recalled from loan to play at centre. Anderson at full back? Otherwise we're definitely in trouble fielding a team...

I suspect we are going to see a whole bunch of loanees, trialists and others alongside whoever we have from the squad and academy who are fit.

De Chaves in the second row.

Unfortunately I injured my ankle, calf and Achilles walking back to the car (injuring myself in uneventful ways is my speciality) so won't be available for selection for the next two weeks. Anyone else here injured?

Yep - slight ACL from the drive back!

Pretty sure Ben Morris is out for a while injured, knee or ankle?

I would not risk any of our players who could be called into Premiership action!

That could be any or all of them at the moment plus a few from other clubs!

Not a bad call. I suspect Alfie will be given another week or so to recover. Hougaard needs time at 9. Not sure that Morris has recovered from injury.

With our injury list this is a tournament to get a look at academy prospects, whilst giving them experience of training, preparing and playing at higher levels. Also it is a good chance to get match fitness into the legs of returning players. But our first team and wider squad need rest and lots of it. I'm not even sure we should give anything but a passing glance at the champions cup as well. It is a hugely important tournament that I am desperate to see us win, however injuries have dictated our fortunes this season, and the premiership realistically is our only focus now.

I'd argue qualifying for Europe next year is more important than the up hill battle competing in Europe this year given injury crisis.

Tbh was hoping at the beginning that wasps would take a view of taking premiership cup seriously this season., bearing in mind no relegation and help boost confidence in actually winning games and possibly silverware. When we did well in 7s seemed to set up beginning of those seasons nicely, even if it was only our expectations!

Unfortunately having to agree that the only route does seem to be a token side out for the prem cup

As for Europe just hope we do put on a decent show ,if only because finally got all the bits booked for away trips.

Don’t we traditionally let one of the junior coaches get some experience acting as head coach for these games? Or am I confused, again?
