Why the frisking?

Does anyone know why, all of a sudden, we are being frisked as we enter the stadium?

It doesn't bode well for getting-in on Boxing Day if we have to wait to be frisked and then, spend time trying to get a phone signal so we can display the COVID passport.

Cause the Stewards are now used to dealing with the round ball crowd where you get frisked every game every turnstile.  Yesterday just walked in no frisk or even a bag check.

I always screenshot mine so I know I can access it regardless of connectivity.  Problem is, a screenshot proves nothing as it is very easily shared and even modified, so it could be anyone's pass.  No venue has the resource to check the source of each individual pass on entry, so it is all entirely done on trust, which in turn makes the checks themselves redundant since those that can be trusted to present a genuine Covid pass can probably be equally trusted to do what they are obliged to do regardless of whether or not someone is checking.

could not see the point of frisking. We went in through the hotel entrance to check in went straight through to the concourse through the Mill bar. Nobody checking bags or frisking.

I refused until the steward put a mask on or found a steward who was willing to.  It is putting people at risk and then had to put up with him saying"I'm double jabbed so it doesn't matter anyway".  So frustrating that people believe that.  I have emailed the club to ask what's going on however I don't expect a reply.
