For those of you who still visit and contribute to the ‘other’ forum, I’m sure it’s hasn’t gone unnoticed that it’s been down for some considerable time.
I’ve spoken to one of the mods and there are some technical issues which is causing the delay in it going back online as opposed to any other reasons.
Matters are in hand and I’m sure it will be back up and running and a source of much argument again soon!

I haven't missed it.

The "technical" issues are that normally articles haven't been uploaded.. but this probably points to a fundamental problem in the how Sportnetwork (Durham Associates) designed it to be a website with a forum attached.

In the middle of summer there aren't really any articles or points of interest to upload.

There is plenty of chat on most of the other forums. Wuss and Tiggers have a poll running as to whether to move or not, Quins have obviously moved, we have this one thanks to Vesp, a few mods/admins on other sites have said they no longer want to offer their freetime in trying to keep their site up and running. I suspect that as internet browsers change and how users access the web (phones, tablets), its becoming more and more difficult to tweak the Sportnetwork forums to keep running.

A user from Sale has created an "all in encompassing" forum site that the above forums are wondering whether to move to .. plus it allows links to "off-shore forums" like this one, Quins and Shedweb so that everyone can quickly look to see what other club supporters are talking about which is useeful, but not essential

The only interest I see in its return is that the “argumentative” posts will stay there rather than migrate to here.

I’m told that on this occasion it has nothing to do with a lack of published news articles.

Let's try and guess..

I find that *most* of the comment on DW is fine in terms of politeness to me, but sorely lacking in terms of politeness in general. Some posters seem to have a huge beef with each other. Shame as we are supposed to be on the same side and you would not speak that way to someone in a pub. I guess social media has gone that way, as has political discourse.

I think it is not only the lack of politeness that puts people off, I think that the fact that threads get repeated ad nauseam and that people post too soon after the match does not help calm things.

I don't agree with all the anti- Dai sentiment that tends to dominate there, although I do think that Cipriani is by far and away the best ten in the Prem, and the best one to have worn the shirt for Wasps in the pro era, something I suspect I would have difficulty convincing many here of.

I do wonder why people who don't like it read it, I guess it is for the same reason that some socialists I know buy the Telegraph, and some Conservatives I know buy The Guardian.

The only 'side' I am on is ...

I LIKE watching exciting and open rugby. To me, who is playing is immaterial. I like to watch it live. The broadcast version is a very poor imitation of the live version. Total lack of atmosphere. and when watching live, you can see the nuances of play off the ball that the TV, pundits and commentators often miss. You get to meet the players, who are, 100% genuinely nice folk.

Of course, if one or both teams aren't playing that style of rugby, but instead are looking like a team of estate agents or devonshire clots, it instantly makes the game less attractive to watch live.

Too many of the forum poster on DW are TV Trolls. Even if they are at the game, they might be glued to their 'Smart' phones. How on earth do you go to watch a game live and have your phone out? How moronic can people be? These are the same people I see daily texting whilst driving, killing us motorbikers in huge numbers (in the USA it is now THE #1 cause of motorcycle rider deaths). And, whilst I am having a beer or two in this heat, a shout out to the guy I passed at the weekend driving his 4x4 watching a movie on his phone held in both hands on his steering wheel. On the M6, at 70(ish) MPH.

I enjoy both sites. It's all Wasps chat after all! DW can get a bit more negative I find but that is the opinion of the individual poster. Some people you can debate with, some you can't. At the end of the day it's enjoyable to have a couple of places to debate Wasps stuff - the more the merrier.

My wife always prefers TV- you do see more overall, I think she is right on that, but at the game you see part of the game in often greater detail. I akways enjoy 7 am in the pub in the mornings watching Lions tours too. I often prefer away games over home ones, depending on the location.

As an interloper, resident of Coventry and occasional visitor to the Ricoh (cajoled into signing up here instead of lurking...you know who you were ;)) I enjoy this site for its content far more than DW, very similar to Shedweb without one or two of the edgier characters ...keep up the good work.

All well and good criticising those who watch on TV but just remember that some were forced into that decision when the club relocated. I was a multi year season ticket holder but now I don't have a seat  I don't have a say?

I watch on TV, PC actually, (RugbyPass, so I never miss a Wasps' game) because I'm now disabled and can't make it to The Ricoh (or anywhere else for that matter) - much as I would like to.

As for the DW site, I don't miss it much. I've had my share of flame wars there over the years. I've got a hide like a rhino so none of the abuse bothered me at all. Unfortunately some good posters have vanished forever which is a shame.

I've caved in and joined the site (though I'll still visit DW)

By and large I try to avoid the arguements.

I've just received the first early bird ticket offer for the Sarries game.. 2 months almost to the day.

I don't envy the guys doing pre-season training in this weather.
