Round 8
« on: January 03, 2020, 08:38:48 PM »
I missed the announcement of the law change that came into effect Jan 1st regarding there no longer being an offside line..Watching Sale v Quins we are seeing the effect of this change adopted by Sale.

They are trying to avoid a VAR offside lines type of situation by just doing away with it.

It comes to a fine point where the commentators keep mentioning the offside line.

Yes, very frustrating. We've lost at home to 2 poor sides. Gave a much better account of ourselves on our visit to Salford than Quins have tonight. Mid table is so tight from about 3rd down that those missed opportunities have made a huge difference.

I think it was announced together with the change regarding lineout throws, which must now be straight-ish.

It is bonkers because it is becoming so obvious all of the time. How the hell the linesmen cannot see it when others watching tv or at the stadium can see the blatant movement. It is one of their main tasks and they generally fail to see or advise it.

JF says "I think it was announced together with the change regarding lineout throws, which must now be straight-ish"

I repectfully suggest he has got it wrong.  The new law says that the lineout throw must not be straight!

Likewise the feed into the scrum must absolutely not be straight and this will be strictly interpreted and applied.  Also there has been a little discussed change in another law which says it is now ok to be in front of the kicker at restarts, especially if Wayne Barnes is the referee.

I dont know what you are complaining about. Line out throws are always straight.

Straight to their own man.
