Morning all!
« on: May 15, 2021, 07:20:01 AM »
Good morning all Waspies from a wet but very welcomingly fresh Guildford. Coffees on the go, however the hounds walk in the Surrey hills will have to wait until tomorrow, as in a break from my normal pre match routine my better half has set up a meeting with the builders of our new house to discuss flooring, walls, tiles and the like (not sure why I am going as she is very much the boss of this, and as long as I can have my canvas print of Twickenham and signed Dallaglio jersey on the wall, with room in the fridge for an beer  or 2 I am happy). But fortunately a little deviation on the way back to a local brewery to pick up some ale for our game this afternoon has been arranged....I will tell her on the way.

To today’s game. Well results around us have certainly made 6th spot a possibility. However all of us from Irish in 6th to Falcons in 11th could stumble into that spot. None of us are playing particularly well or with conviction. Every team in this group of 6 have bright moments, but then equally produce performances that you would not accept from your mini rugby kids, and equally would not get a result against a vets team who had been heavily on the booze the night before.

Potentially in this game Atkinson could be exposed by Warriors today. He is a fine 10, and has the potential to become a leading fly half in the premiership. But he is young, raw with lots to learn, and a 15 he is not. Miller struggled last week, but he is a sound 15, and that is exactly what we need at present. In the pack I will go against many a view on here but I am pleased to see Oghre start. Yes his discipline and line out darts need to improve, but there is an raw energy, a physicality, an attitude and keenness to his game that I really like. These are traits for success. You can teach the skills of the game, improve the ability, but without those core elements that he has success is but a pipe dream. He will make mistakes, but he is one to work with a get more game time for. With players like him, Alfie, The Willis brothers you can build a formidable pack.

I admit to being frustrated with Warriors. Yes moving the game into next week would mean shuffling time off, however have they missed what has happened over the last year? Have they forgotten there is no game next weekend for them? Have they not looked at rugby’s accounts of late? And also, did they not think, that with all that all of us have been through, the chance to open the doors to supporters and to provide a much needed boost that spending time together would of brought, and the relief and joy it would that would of been felt would not be worth it! Make no bones if this was at theirs I think their thinking would be different, and in this posters humble opinion it is to their shame that they did not see the bigger picture. This has motivated Robbo and the players, and my life it has motivated me to want to see us put in a display that not only gets a victory, but grinds them into the dirt!

It’s fair to say I am pumped for this game! I only wish I was in the stands with you all!

COME ON YOU WASPS!!!

Chris

Morning Wombles, I'll be watching this on on the BT app on my phone and I have no expectations of it being a happy experience.

Hope I'm wrong.

Morning All

Dull day here and kind of reflects the mood in watching Wasps.

You have to hope against Worcester that we snatch a win from the jaws of defeat (or is it the other way around?). Hopefully the chance to have fans back being removed by them will spur the lads on. It is getting a bit defeatiost though.

I'm a little concerned that the current form has caused a bit of a lack of motivation among the fan base.

Traffic here is definitely down, and last season a Morning All thread would be buzzing by now. There is definitely less interest in Wasps now.

I guess the potential issue is that we'll finally be allowed back in, and lots of people won't bother.

It isn't just at Wasps. It will be all the GPL. Attendance is a habit. The same will be the case for pubs, restaurants, shops etc. The economics of socialising will have been changed for a long time to come.

But, I think grass roots youth sport will see an increase. My daughter teaches swimming amongst her many skills, and at her pool demand for children's lessons is up so much that they have had to lay on extra lessons. Wasps should seriously think about supporting local youth teams with pre-printed posters and leaflets for those local clubs to take in to schools, and support summer 'welcome to rugby' clubs. The parents of kids will want and need something for kids to do this summer, as the traditional holidays simply are not going to happen. They are our future.

I was thinking about next season, and whether I should be buying a season ticket. I didn't for this year, but Stephen should consider some sort of welcome back promotion at some point. I guess we simply don't know yet what stadium attendances will be like, but one would hope they would be fully open by October?

Like most of us here, I have now had my second jab and I am bored out of my brain sitting here at home still.

Anyway, to the subject at hand. I have a good feeling about today. Bounce back Saturday.

Morning all.

I think it is a case of 'que sera sera' with Wasps these days. We hope for, but no longer expect, a win.

It will turn around, I am sure, but it is bloody frustrating waiting for it to happen!!!

I take it that he game is on the BT red button today?

Morning all,

Quite wet her first thing and I discovered my jacket needs reproofing :(

I won't be able to watch today's match, now my wife has had her 2nd dose she's trying to catch up on lost socialising so we're off to a lunch. (Not sure how its been organised). That may be a blessing in disguise after to some of the emotional roller coaster rides we've been on of late and finishing them on lows isn't good.

We agreed early on in our 37 year marriage that she'd be the boss n these things but that I could have a veto. This worked very well, right up to the point I tried to exercise that veto.

Morning all.

Wet here in the west - with some serious showers on the radar. Tea in hand, dog looking at me suggesting that we'd wait until there is a drier patch.

Hoping for an open game and a win.....and hoping we have the flexibility of mind to change things if required.

I’ve just suggested black and gold tiling for the downstairs WC.....looks like I might not even be allowed to move there with her now!

Morning all,
Forecast for rain throughout the day in Coventry today unfortunately.
In my relatively short time following Wasps I’ve realised it is a bit of a roller coaster supporting the teams with highs and inevitable lows.
Right now the team is struggling but for me that is less important than the success that Stephen Vaughan and his team are having off field.
Last season we were outstanding and were a real joy to watch. This season there has been a reality check but without Alfie, Jack and Joe etc. that is inevitable. When they return w3 are going to be really competitive again.
In terms of this afternoon- I think we will take it to Worcester and take 5 points.

The weather is grey and soggy and very damp,  the  mountain is still there - somewhere -  and  Wales has  disappeared.  Hopefully it won't rain on the Ricoh at 3 o'clock.  And no thunderstorms.  I just hope that Wasps conjures up  a storm from somewhere - and a win.  I live in hope.  Please  C O Y W,  and safe journeys  wherever.  Allez x 3.  Go Go - Josh and Brad and Tom W.

Morning all and best wishes to you and yours.

Thanks for the rousing post Wombles. Got my dog walk and a coffee shortly, no point waiting for the weather! The last game without a crowd, such a shame Warriors 'Wuss'ed out of playing in front of a few fans and that some cannot be there to see this fixture, but we are were we are. Looking forward to seeing how the centres get along, I recon we need at least three games before we will know for sure. Also looking forward to seeing Charlie at fullback again, he has a hunger to get stuck in that could just provide one of those momentum changing impacts during the game.

Well here's to a great game. Come on You Wasps!

Take care,
Notso

Morning all. It's a bit damp in Hastings at the moment. However, kippers and a big mug of strong tea for breakfast more than makes up for it. I buy my kippers and other smoked fish from a local wet fish shop that smokes their own - delicious. Looking forward to this one. I'm always positive but this season has tried my natural optimism. Though I would not have been able to attend in person today, I feel for those who could - if it hadn't been for Worcester's management's small mindedness. As for the Warriors XXIII, smash 'em.

PS. 'Wuss'ed out'. Made me laugh, notso.
