"Significant" Covid outbreak at Gloucester
« on: June 01, 2021, 12:55:32 PM »
According to Nik Simon of the Mail, who tends to be very reliable: https://twitter.com/stephenjones9/status/1399694638131429376?s=20

Gloucester played London Irish on Friday, so there could be a knock on effect on our match.

Possibly linked to Hartpury cases which caused cancellation of their game against Saracens last week?

Unsure, but their match has just been called off, which will mean 4 points to Bath, putting them ahead of us...

4 points to Bath! Just what we didn't want. We really can't catch a break this season.

Indeed. It appears London Irish are unaffected, so whoever loses our match against Irish will be overtaken by Bath. If it's us and we don't get any bonus points, Gloucester will draw level on points with us, although we'd be ahead on matches won.

The amount of covid points teams around us have gained has done more to blight our season than our playing vagaries.  Not only do other teams get points - even the 2 points is worth it to some - they get a rest.
Let me tell you something cucumber

Apparently there are at least 20 positive cases at Gloucester, maybe as high as 30, with others being re-tested, so it may rise. With close contacts that's most of their squad needing to isolate for 10 days, which means no more training until Friday next week. They may just get to play their final match.

This is terrible news all round.

Surely Irish must be affected too if it’s this serious.

If the cases are that high then this a significant risk that the Irish squad could well be affected.  It will be interesting to see the outcome of their test round later this week.

I honestly believe that any Covid matches should have been determined as 0-0 draws, hence 2 pts to each side. The Champions Cup qualification for next season is probably going to be skewed against those sides that have had zero cancellations.

I'd quite like Irish to come through unscathed so that I can go and watch some live rugby!

Suppose one additional issue is if no positive LI tests until after the game then Wasps close contacts identified prior to Tigers game so no game then?

Could be cases found in training team, rather than 1st XV types, so less likely to have passed it onto LI, but now may have to isolate themselves due to potential exposure.

Have there been any proven cases of transmission between teams during a game?

Graham Hughes was asked that, said he had not seen any
