Back in the day wasn't it usually around this time of the year that we started our run towards the top of the league and the play-offs?

Really good result today. Very happy with that.

Does anyone know what the gate was today? Across the city, Coventry had 3,329 at their game. I just wonder if there had not been a fixture clash, perhaps some of that number might have been at the CBS today?

It looked, from what I could see, somewhere around 10-11k.

They expected 11k and it looked in that area - quite a few will have missed it due positive covid tests (us 5 + 2 for example).
Let me tell you something cucumber

What pleased me the most is now we are starting to get a couple of regular first teamers back from injury the standards are starting to lift. A key metric to squad development is this. Suddenly all those horrible losses, deflating injuries start to pay off because those still standing have gained experience that will hold us in good stead when those we know can perform at the highest levels return....and every team needs strength in depth.

And perhaps that's why todays win meant more than the 5 points gained. We have not got anywhere near our full squad back...but when a couple return the whole performance standards perceptively rise. London Irish have made huge strides this term, and are a challenge to anyone, and we kept them at arms length throughout. The darkest days preceded the brightest future, today feels like we have just glimpsed the first rays of sunlight...and when that happens you know it will only get brighter!!!!

I love being a Wasp!!!

Well played to the full 23 yesterday. We had a game plan, we played that plan and we won. The red card seemed harsh but it was reviewed enough to think the full letter of the appropriate law was followed. Bit inconsistent though about the karate kick to the head that didn’t have any sanction. Didn’t Paulo get a red for something similar?

Onwards and upwards. Ekkk tiggers next at the CBS.

Paolo’s foot extended/flicked out at end of his jump ,so it looked more of a deliberate action.

The disciplinary judgement (https://www.englandrugby.com/dxdam/b4/b49273a9-bc0b-4bcb-9cff-e9f6de3650e0/OdogwuWaspsJudgmentNov19(final).pdf) for Paolo said the following:

Quote
This was an extremely serious and dangerous incident of foul play. Whilst the panel freely concede that in the current game players are vulnerable when they jump to catch a high kick; this vulnerability cannot, in our opinion, justify preventative measures such as raising an outstretched leg to occur. To do so would simply allow one form of vulnerability to create another.

The panel found that Mr Odogwu deliberately raised his left leg with studs up so as, at the least, to deter an oncoming attacker. In so doing he ran the risk that his outstretched leg would culminate in a kick to the head or upper body of an oncoming player, as occurred here.

From the image attached, it appears the London Irish player did exactly what is described above.

Thought that was a real solid display even though there was a time when we couldn’t shake them off. The basics were good - scrum, line out, discipline - all good. West makes a big difference at scrum time. Fifita and Stooke were excellent as was the back row as usual. Frost is an excellent addition. Crossdale solidifies full back. And Gopperth - how does he do it? Fan village, fireworks, new announcer and a win. We’re starting to see a few back who are making a difference with more to come. On we go!

Announcer was the same as all of this season
