Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Salary cap
« on: September 18, 2019, 12:38:02 PM »
I want Sarries punished as well, stripped of their European and premiership titles during which they did this. However it won't because the premiership would admit the best team in England and Europe are cheats. I don't think anything will come from this. I want it to, but it won't.

Shame we didn't win it, but the talent we had look exciting. I'm hoping Porter and Vellacott aren't too badly injured and wish them a speedy recovery.

Oh I agree Porter has also been great. Was curious if we're bringing anyone else in.

Thanks Heathen.

Good to hear. Shame about Vellacott though, he's been class this weekend. Who will replace him?

I missed the games today due to travelling, could someone give their thoughts on how Wasps did today compared to yesterday?

I was hoping to see Umaga start against Sarries, but if he's a part of sevens that may be unlikely.... But he may be on the bench? Given Vellacott, Sirker and Neal are also in sevens, I was expecting one or 2 of those to be in the 23 to face Sarries.

I'll also add Gleeson sounds like he has made a good start with Wasps. I really hope he makes our attack good again.

I'm a bit concerned about Sopoaga and Fekitoa being injured, albeit it's only the premiership cup and we can experiment.

Does this mean Umaga/Searle will be given the opportunity against Sarries?

Back Row depth is screaming for rotation. Might depend on the opposition and strategy. For example if we need more of a ball carrier use Vailanu. If we need possession and hence a jackal use Willis.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Dylan Leyds

Hate to perform blind optimism, but from the original list mentioning Leyds, all those players have been confirmed except for Leyds and Jacques Vermeulen.

Just last week the same source that mentioned Leyds again mentioned Jacques Vermeulen going to Exeter.

So is this source just saying what Sport24 already stated or does this have some weight? And because another player on the list (that has been accurate so far) is being mentioned again more recently, does that mean Leyds is still a possibility? They may join their respective teams part way through this season coming up, for example. Didn't Le Roux do that during 2016/17?

I do agree 10 is an uncertainty...

We need to use Sopoaga differently to Cipriani and more like we used our fly halves in 2015/16.

I also hope Gleeson adds ideas as to how to utilize Sopoaga effectively.

There's so many ifs and buts regarding Sopoaga.... Hence I agree it's a concern.

I mean fair response from competing clubs.

Either Saracens have created a set up for other clubs to afford players they'd want or they'll get punished. But because Saracens are the best English team I reckon the former will happen rather than the latter.

If Wasps are now able to afford more players like Launchbury (i.e. another Launchbury) and compete with Sarries is it a bad thing?

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Starting forwards
« on: August 04, 2019, 11:58:23 AM »
Assuming this is during the world cup:

1. Simon McIntyre
2. Tom Cruse
3. Jeffery Toomaga-Allen
4/5. Will Rowlands, James Gaskell
6. Jack Willis
7. Thomas Young
8. Tom Willis

Back row is a little bit difficult. I've entered my preferred players but it might be too much Jackal and we might prefer carriers. But I do think T. Willis is good enough to start.
