Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Cheating double standards?

IIRC The accusation was also that we had a weakened team due to long injury list, wasn’t it ever thus  ;), so it was in our interests to postpone.

The Pizzagate episode happened because of something that happened a few weeks before when one of our forwards nearly drowned after being trapped face-down in liquid mud at the bottom of a prolonged ruck playing at Watford. Wasps had discussions about it with the RFU/PRL and it had been decided that if such conditions happened again the match shouldn't be played. Wasps asked the ref to examine the mud along the Stockport  pitch sidelines and the ref decreed there was too much liquid mud. This was told to me by a Premiership ref, and was confirmed by the forward concerned before he transferred to....Sale

I went up for that game as my mate was a Sale season ticket holder and he’d “borrowed” a season tick from a friend who wasn’t going. I’d been the previous season and so knew a few of the guys. We were in a famous pub when word came out that something was wrong, boy did I get some stick.

What doesn’t seem to get discussed is the number of times they’ve conceded tries right at the death of the game?  Is it lack of confidence or lack of concentration, whichever it’s been very costly.

Learnt to play at the Army Apprentice College, Harrogate, and coached by our Squadron Cpl who was involved in the Wales setup. Continued after I graduated but wasn’t really big or fast enough, although my tackling technique was sound, and after a year at Squadron level stopped playing when I was posted to Cyprus.

I ran the Regimental Rugby Club bar for a while if that also counts 🍺?

Outside centre or wing.

Didn’t see what team Sarries had out today but again really emphasises how good we were last week against them, especially when they’d beaten an in form sale, with largely the same team the week before.
Hope we can play with the same freedom against Irish as we did last week
I've just read a comment elsewhere from someone who watched it, a Wasps fan so I hope he won't mind me copying it here:

Saints really threw it away. Reinbach really upset the ref, got warned any more chat and he'd be off, then passed directly to Ben Earl from a lineout for an easy run in try. Several other schoolboy errors when they (Saints) went down to 13 men. Dan Biggar had to be helped off the pitch, looked a big doubt for next week.

I don't like seeing players go off and I hope Biggar's available for next week's game against England, much as I hate his dancing around before he kicks  :-\

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Wasps on Mental Health & Will Wilson
« on: February 28, 2020, 03:31:53 PM »
There's been a big push around mental health from veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan because of the high incidence in their community. A recent theme was Strong Not Silent to encourage people to talk and seek help.

Its good that the rest of society is moving in that direction and Will is to be commended for his openness, hopefully it will encourage others not to suffer in silence.

I wonder if Minozzi will need to go in to some sort of quarantine when he comes back?

It's a bit annoying that rugby pod and Flats on highlights talk more about how bad Sarries were rather than how good we were

Full game's on premiershiprugby.com so we can make up our own minds. I haven't watched it yet as my Internet's been down since Monday and got repaired today.

Great highlights, looking forward to seeing the full game.

And what about TTs pass for the 3rd try? Is he audition for a 9 or 10 spot?

Edit: I see I wasn't the only one to spot that, comments passed in posting

Wow, just got home and seen the score.

You can only get 5pts in the league but at this rate they'll wipe out the points difference which may have an impact at the end of the season.

And if we call Daly a centre (which he is IMO) then that's just ONE winger in the whole 23!!!

..

When he first played FB for England I remember looking up the number of times he'd played FB for us for a discussion on a sailing forum and was quite surprised at how many times he'd played there.

That said, I think you're right, not least because he appears to have lost a little bit of pace to be a winger, or maybe its just other wingers are now faster.

I'm gutted that Dai has gone, he's done so so much for this club. After the initial success of the move to Coventry the last couple of years have eerily reminded me as a former Leeds Utd fan of what happened all those years ago to them.

I was a regular at Elland Road in the late '60s and early '70s before Army service took me off and I didn't get there much after that, 1974 was my last game. I was down in the Falkland for the war when the news came through in '82 that they'd been relegated, I didn't really have time to worry about it but was gutted for a while.

I still keep an occasional eye on how their doing but as I stopped being interested in soccer in the late '90s/2000s It is very occasional.

End of an era.  Massive thanks to Dai and all he's done for the club. I wish him every success in his future endeavours.
