Wasps Rugby Discussion / Morning all

A very early one from me.
Hoping the game will be smoother for us than my journey, which involves rail replacement buses...

Wasps Rugby Discussion / O/T So what did we all get for Christmas?
« on: December 25, 2019, 03:29:24 PM »
Just curious.

No old computing stuff for me this year- I missed out on a very specific USA Tandy coco-3 converted to UK mains  in Septemeber on Ebay- last year I had some joysticks and games- but could not very well ask the wife for one and expect to get it as her electronic skills are probably not there and the cost is pretty prohibitive.
Most years I get some Dragon or Atari stuff, this year I have not had the time, sadly.

I did get an Essex county champions Polo. Nothing Wasps though- I own about 30 active wasps shirts plus hoodies etc.  I would love to buy some more but I insist on the old cotton style supporters style jerseys- like we had for 150-  I feel fast in the proper ones and replicas, despite not even being 12 stone (touch wood).

I know what I would like as a late present - a W at Bristol, or at least a functioning train to get there- it is rail replacement from Bridgend. Still, can't have everything.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Wasps and match day programs- telegraph
« on: November 14, 2019, 10:03:27 AM »
Found this today, could not see a thread for it.
It contains an interview with chief exec SV, and Jimmy G about tech. with a focus on 5G.

I love the way they talk of a laptop at half time to determine our second half tactics.
Given our recent performances, one must wonder about the exact content of said laptop. I will leave you to make your own jokes up, as mine will result in an avalanche of downvotes and groans.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / RP
« on: February 24, 2019, 07:06:49 PM »
Has anyone bought the RP today?
I have the rare pleasure of the English edition (Wales is a terrible place to be if they beat England, it goes to "we will win the grand slam/WC/everything" in sixty seconds, and the reverse when they lose), so if possible I head out with my daughter,  speaking as much Welsh as I can muster to her so she feels at home. It does not really work as the weather is always better - Wales is not Wales unless it rains. Anyway in the English edition, the letters page has a gentleman stating Wasps are after Pockock for 1.4m.
Now even the fissler-vine has not mentioned this, has anyone here heard such a rumour?

Wasps Rugby Discussion / mobile issues
« on: January 29, 2019, 10:03:14 AM »
I seem to have an issue on logging in on mobile- password incorrect keeps coming up. I have cleared the cache, history, cookies and saved paswords/form data, etc. but having not logged in once it won't let me log in on the mobile at all. Obviously the password is correct, hence I can log in on other computers (typing it in manually each time on several different computers).
Anyone encountered similar mobile issues?

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Second row
« on: January 03, 2019, 01:16:08 AM »
We have said a lot here and elsewhere about Myall, Rowlands etc. in the absence of Gaskell/Launch for much of the season.
There is an obvious temptation to say "they have done well at times/good second choice etc." This is reasonable given their contributions at times last year and, indeed, parts of this. That is until you consider the lock options at Sarries. The second choice locks, our Rowlands/Myall equivalents are Kruis, or Skelton or whichever of their stock of international locks are deemed second choice. I am not sure what their second choice pair actually is, which says sonething. Our back row operates in a similar fashion. Hughes/Young/Willises/Carr/Ashley/Shields etc. Whichever way we go the back row will be class, and I am not sure of the pecking order. Sarries second row is exactly the same. Whichever combination they have picked in the second row for two years it has been top notch by club standards.
That is the reality we are up against, the top team has at least four quality locks with a fag paper between them at their best. At Chiefs the individual quality is lower but the effect the same, they lose two locks the next choices perform as well. So, surely we must ask ourselves if we are going to compete with that with what we have? I think   it is accepted thst every club needs two  quality options of both types of prop and hookers, and yet we have a situation where the second row is not seen in that light by many of the GP clubs apart from the most successful ones, who have it as one of the better stocked areas.

I think we have missed a trick here, the second row has become more vital and we have recruited elsewhere whilst losing options. Matthews for Symons may have made sense but we were taking a big gamble without further recruitment, one that was exposed without Launch/Gaskell. Regardless of our style moving forward, we need to see what is on the market post WC, and use some of that cap to bring our second row depth up towards that of the top teams. We can't match everyone everywhere, but I think the gap is big enough to warrant recruitment if we want to be top table next year, do rather than exchanging one for one when Willie et al go, I think we should strengthen second row, even if we end up a bit short of stardust eksewhere...

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Maiden post
« on: December 15, 2018, 12:25:42 AM »
Hello all and good morning all.
I have never posted on this site, although I notice a large number of familiar names from DWs. Prior to DWs I was one of the interruptions from tumbleweeds on the official board back in the AP days.
I guess this is where the cool kids hang out? Or at least those who dislike reading "this site is awaiting update"
I shall now fill in the "who are you thread?", for those interested.
