Wasps Rugby Discussion / Ospreys
« on: January 13, 2024, 10:31:34 AM »
Looking to move from a super ground because.....
20k is too much.
Yes, that's right kids, 20k is too much and we are going to have a 28k stadium. Hmm.
Fwiw I have had freebies from there- all clubs give a fair few freebies despite the protestations of venomous cretins like Grendel- and it just doesn't work there. It isn't as bad as Murrayfield was when we played Edinburgh in about 07 ish, but it is bad. The Wasps atmosphere on 17k out of 32 was better than Ospreys IMHO, for a valid comparison I would look at when we had crowds of 10k or under, as in the development cup.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Fra SA
« on: October 15, 2023, 11:02:24 PM »
Another final quality match, wow.
Deeply upsetting result however given the pre game bullshit by the only man in rugby who makes Eddie Jones look good. Rather hoped SA would kop for one.
Thought the French were the better team by some margin on the night.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / On more pleasant matters. Rugby WC Fra v NZ
« on: September 09, 2023, 09:43:25 AM »
Da iawn, France.
Great, measured rugby allied with a desire to play that was evident throughout. They suffocated NZ in the last 20, but always looked dangerous.
Grats to the Waspies involved. Allez.

Too early for morning all, but  with uncertainty everywhere and pessimism abounding, why not start the thread now? Legally morning, I bid you bore da, and hope it is not for the last time.

In one of the signs of the apocalypse, I actually agree with Stuart Barnes

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Cruse on axial loading
« on: October 28, 2021, 04:57:15 PM »
Short half page bit in the Times today about scrum safety for hookers, contributions from TC, Scott Baldwin, Christian Day.
Main story on the back.
I have no link, sorry as I have a paper copy only.
Brief summary- hookers very worried about necks under the post 2013 protocols, more hookers needing surgery earlier.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Wales Scotland with spoilers.

Anyone watching?
Very windy here- we are a couple of miles away from the ground and it has been swirling.
Scottish lineout at fault for the only try so far, Scotland their own worst enemies, Wales defence looks good

Wasps Rugby Discussion / BT on Sky
« on: September 21, 2020, 01:40:26 PM »
Not sure if this helps anyone, but Sky now appear to do a 31 day rolling contract for BT sport at 25 pcm for their existing customers ion their platform, which can be switched on or off on their website. This might be an option for those who just watch BT for the rugby 9 months a year, or for those who notice that we have a lot of games in a particular month that they can't get to in future- effectively a one off one month for 25.

Sky are also are bundling the two packages (Sky plus BT) for 40 pcm on an 18 month contract as you would expect. By comparison, watching regular BT Sport on Sky via BT themselves is a whopping 30 pcm with no contract, but if you ring and ask for a contract they seem to be offering 24 pcm on two year deals as standard, so a pound off Sky's rolling contract but you are tied to a contract. I know they also do bundle deals for their platform too.

Either way watching on Sky you get the BT channels but not extra, but the red button service does work (but cannot be recorded).

Not trying to sell anyone on a platform, but thought the rolling contract thing is something people with Sky already and no BT might wish to consider if they are not STH's with access codes to BT coverage.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / As we start
« on: August 14, 2020, 10:20:40 AM »
Guardian reports Blues game in NZ is off. Confirmed NZ Herald. This from a country that was reported as being covid free.

Sad times, as we start they stop, albeit not countrywide.

I am in Jersey now, wondering what will happen to the Reds. Jersey tests on entry, Guernsey has zero entry full stop. Bloody virus.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Sky
« on: March 18, 2020, 08:00:02 AM »
Apparently you can pause your sports subscription with Sky with no penalty. Sky's website confirms this. However, this facility is not available online, and, as reported by newspapers, you will have to ring, facing up to an hour wait, in order to act on this.
I shall be doing this later, probably next week, as my wife is the  bill payer and is at work.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Morning all
« on: January 05, 2020, 01:42:05 AM »
Another early morning from me to you all. Not going today, sadly, just too much with an impending return to work, and have spent the last three nights in three different cities. Plus Sundays suck if the train is involved. This might be one of those years I don't make more home games than I do away.
