Wasps Rugby Discussion / The endless thread
« on: April 13, 2019, 06:45:16 PM »
Let's see how long we can keep a thread going for. Simple word association, look at the word and post the first word it makes you think of.

And so on...

I'll start.

Yet again the ban was halved because he pretended to be contrite.

If you have old shirts, or other Wasps gear that you would like to pass on to a good home please post it here.  Maybe your kids have grown out of their old shirt?  Maybe yours has mysteriously shrunk in the wash over the last couple of years? Maybe you're under orders not to buy a new one until you clear a bit of space in the wardrobe.  Or maybe you just decided you prefer dull rugby now and so want to start supporting a different team.

Either way post it up here!

Yesterday I was lucky enough to get to spend some time in the players' lounge both before and after the game.  Beforehand there weren't many around, but I got to ask Jack Willis about his injury.  He said his ankle was playing up a little, but was very relaxed and friendly.  Couldn't give enough time to the kids, and most importantly wasn't walking as if he had an injured ankle.  I suspect we'll see him back pretty quickly.

Afterwards the most important conversation I'd say was with Jimmy who said he was still on track to be back soon.  I also got to ask Lima if he was OK after having been taken off with what seemed a knock and he said he was fine.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / What a day!
« on: April 06, 2019, 07:46:13 PM »
Had such an amazing day today. Not just the 5 points, but also getting to meet and chat to some amazing people.

I'll write more once I'm on a proper keyboard, but one of the highlights for me was getting to thank this man for all he's done.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Good Morning All!
« on: April 06, 2019, 07:53:20 AM »
For a change I am sitting at a laptop with a nice coffee at a friend's house in Lichfield.

The plan is to have a lazy morning and then for all of us - me, Mrs VV, all three of the little wasplets, as well as my Tigers supporting friend and his wife to come down to watch the game in person.  We've been incredibly lucky and have the opportunity to take the kids to meet some of the players after the match so whatever happens on the pitch it's going to be a great day.

The weather is looking overcast but dry currently and looks set to stay that way, we're putting out a pretty good looking squad so there's every chance we can celebrate a win.  I guess it all depends on whether the players themselves manage to hit their stride.  We've got some amazing names with great experience and undeniable talent, they just all seem to have hit a dip in form at the same time.

Ah well, back to the coffee now, I'll see you at the Ricoh later!

Apparently according to the Times he's asked to be released from his contract.  Does anyone have the ability to copy the full article as I'm not a subscriber...

Confirmed to be at the Ricoh!

A great boost to the coffers and another example of how the business is bigger than just the 1st team games.

You have to wonder why this article is all about Jones not leaving, and even if he does Borthwick is definitely staying!

So I wonder where they'll both be next year...

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Reasons to be cheerful
« on: March 25, 2019, 08:42:18 AM »
I thought it might be nice to look at some of the awesome stuff that is going on at Wasps as a counterpoint to the depressing results we've been seeing of late.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Constantly changing expectations
« on: March 24, 2019, 06:38:46 PM »
Before the game yesterday I had no expectations of us winning.  I had essentially written it off and simply hoped for a spirited performance to try to build a bit of enthusiasm in the team. But then in the first ten minutes we showed we actually had it in us to win the damn thing.

At that point I went from expecting to lose to believing we could win.  So the loss had gone from being a certainty, to a genuine disappointment.

It would actually be easier as a fan if we just bloody lost, without constantly being given the hope that we could win if we only managed to hold it together and then failing to do that.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Morning All

Good Morning Everyone!

It's dry but overcast down here in Hampshire, and I have the usual day ferrying children around planned.  I'm not sure if I'm even going to try and watch the game as I can't see us getting anything out of it.

There is a bit of me that thinks we might surprise everyone, after all out internationals are back (and Daly), and we are going in to this as the clear underdog so there is no pressure from expectation.  However that bit of me has been proven wrong pretty much every game so far this season.  So I'm gonna say we're in for a fairly depressing stuffing.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Former Wasp recalled

Ruaridh Jackson has been recalled to the Scotland squad ahead of the game against us.

It'll be nice to see him play international rugby again, I was always a fan.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Sarries and the Cap

It seems to be starting to come out how they are enticing players without "breaking" the cap.

I wonder if Daly is on his way to being a company director now...

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Morning All!

Morning All!

Mrs VV is still trying to shake s nasty cough and the kids have all sorts booked in today so I'm going to be spending most of the day in the car. But I'm gonna be following the game as best I can.

There is only a tiny portion of me that expects us to win it, but I guess stranger things have happened. Tigers are in a freefall at least as fast as ours, and my good fiend who has supported them for decades is convinced we'll walk it.

Time will tell I guess!
