Wasps Rugby Discussion / I hope this isn't going to happen...

Nice to see a former Wasp speaking up for the Pacific Islands.

There's been a huge amount of talk about him, I guess this is his opportunity to show he can make the step up to the Premiership.  I feel kinda sorry for him to be honest, there seems to be a lot of expectation on his shoulders from many fans and I wonder how much of that is just down to his name.

I guess we'll all find out tomorrow, but if he doesn't do something amazing I suspect he'll be in for some stick from certain quarters.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Donations
« on: March 01, 2019, 09:39:26 AM »
Morning everybody!

After the recent discussions about keeping this place going (see here) I have installed a modification to the forum that should allow people to donate if they want to.

You can access it either here or by clicking the link in the menu bar on the left.

I want to stress that it is in no way compulsory, nor will you miss out on anything by not donating.  This site is free for everyone, and will continue to be so for the forseeable future.

I have been unable to remove the option to display donations, but please don't feel you have to add your name.

If you don't want to donate for any reason at all that is absolutely fine, but if you use an adblocker I would appreciate you making this site an exception.

Thanks very much for making this site an awesome place to be.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / The Future of this site
« on: February 28, 2019, 10:49:48 AM »
I thought that after the recent outage it might be a good idea to have a bit of a discussion about this place.

I really enjoy the forums here, I think the tone is friendly and respectful, even when we disagree, and as such I think it is worth doing everything I can to keep it going.

However it is clear that the current situation regarding forum software, and hosting solution is precarious at best.

I am happy to muddle on as best we can and hope for the best, or we can look at maybe switching to a more robust solution.  The only issue with that is that there will likely be a financial cost involved.  So I guess I have a couple of questions.

Firstly, do you want this place to keep going?

Secondly if so woud you be willing to donate a few pounds to a fund to help buy some better software like Xenforo or similar?

Some of the forums I have used before have had an option for people to become supporters by paying an annual donation of their choice towards the running of the place.  Would that be something anyone would consider?

Alternatively I could possibly step up the ads, or use an ad provide other than Google to get a better level of income from them?

I'd be really interested to hear your thoughts...

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Tigers

Seems that it isn't just us and Newcastle seriously struggling at the moment.  Tigers just lost to Wuss leaving them a step closer to the relegation zone.  I doubt they'll drop, but it's bizarre to see them at the bottom end of the table and still falling.

Yet more evidence that the Wasps board are taking a very long term view.

Building a hotel is not cheap and is likely to put a serious dent in cash flow for a while, but should enable them to dramatically increase their income in the future.

I suspect this will be used to show how we are failing by people who don't realise we are working to a long term plan.

18 minutes in, 3-7, so far we're looking pretty good.  Not brilliant, and a bit tentative, but defence seems fairly solid so far.

I've not been a fan of Eddie's for some time now, but it's hard to think of any real negatives so far in the 6N. It feels like we are finally coming into some form and could do quite well over the next year or so.

Also, can we have May?

If things go according to past form, Joe will be called up, he'll get back to back man of the match awards and then be dropped again.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Training Facility Article

The almost constant fuss about the training facilities at Wasps has been bugging me for a while, so I have written my thoughts down in an attempt to be objective.

What do you think?
