Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: More Financial Trouble?
« on: March 08, 2023, 02:25:01 PM »
I may be the only one but I don't want any other clubs to go under like Wasps & Warriors have done.
Even Sarries.....   well, Ok maybe Sarries, but no one else.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: From the WW Forum - Wasps info
« on: February 19, 2023, 12:00:21 AM »
Criticism of Wasps for their silence (until prompted into saying something by Atlas) is wide of the mark. My reading of it is that Wasps have acted 100% professionally by saying nothing until they have something definite to say, which so far they don't. I am absolutely fine with this, and my impatience to know what the future holds is simply irrelevant.
In contrast,  Atlas have clearly jumped the gun this afternoon by announcing agreement in principle before any de facto agreement is actually reached. I would be surprised if they are not in breach of an NDA too.
As mentioned above, if Wasps are still in a position where they have more than one option on the table then Atlas may just have talked themselves out of a potentially lucrative tenant.

Why would you want to come back to a team of strangers?

Didn't every player who has since joined another club find themselves in a team of strangers?
If the new owners are intent on establishing some level of continuity with the "new" Wasps in terms of personnel and try to re-recruit wherever there is an opportunity, be it players, coaches, back room staff, then I could see why it might be attractive.

I'm not deluding myself, many we already know are spoken for next season and beyond, and many more may not want to drop to the Championship whether or not Wasps' budget would stretch that far, but it is not inconceivable that the new club will be built around a core of returning employees.

Not comfortable with this at all.
Feels like we're taking advantage of Worcester's demise at best. At worst this is a full on stitch up by the RFU, PRL and Wasps to preserve the big brand club at the expense of Worcester. It stinks.

Our 12 today was a pile of shit, too, but apparently he is a test natch animal, so it's fine.  ::)

Don't forget his reliability off the tee which we couldn't do without.

(For those that didn't see it, he missed a couple of absolute sitters)

Lets hope Russell has one of his many off days!

Don't recall any of those ever being against England before!

This is a significant extension to the original mid-December timeline to provide the clubs with the best possible chance of being in the Championship next year.

Maybe reading too much into it, but might "next year" rather than "next season" mean in time for the 2024-25 season? A more realistic target.

Let's face it, the rest of the Championship already have probably 80-90% of their playing and coaching groups for next season already in place, and not only that, they are already training and playing together and have been for some time. Wasps and Wuss cannot begin to compete with that starting from scratch in February (at best).

Not unlike the RFU's ban on Swing Low. However well intentioned, it does nothing to actually address the issues the unions are facing or the accusations directed towards them. Neither song was a contributory factor in establishing a culture of misogyny or racism, and banning them does little to progress the issues. Could even be argued to be counter productive and divisive, alienating fans who will feel that an established pre match tradition is being offered up as a sacrifice to demonstrate a change of culture without actually achieving anything towards that goal.
Bit of an empty gesture that makes for easy click bait on both counts IMO.

Probably as simple as the fact the Toulouse are not bound by the EPS agreement (if it's still called that), and are therefore perfectly entitled to insist on having him back. England obliged to release him.

I tapped on a thread titled 'Well that was fun' and seemed to be invited to connect to several young ladies from Ukraine waiting for me to connect.

I am sure it would have been fun.

You are not the only one!!

So why am I getting ads for more mature ladies (55+). Not sure what to make of that!

Just to add my thanks for keeping this place going so we all have somewhere to go to talk rugby from a bit of a Wasps angle. More important than ever without the diversion of actual Wasps rugby.

Rightly so. Ridiculous decision. Yellow at worst. Arguably penalty only.
