Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: The run in.

I take heart from the fact that since the playoffs began when we have won it hasn't ever been from higher than 2nd and with a traditional post Xmas charge (granted in 16 we were 90 secs from changing that)... feels a bit like Wasps of old... we couldn't... could we (living in hope)?

Thanks John, Emma has tweeted me to say he has seen it. I hope it gives him some idea of the love there is for him amongst the Wasps faithful.

Think it's safe to say if he viewed this thread after reading your words it would reinforce just how highly the Wasps faithful regard him.

Also it is against all sentiment here and elsewhere but can I also say the Daily Mail team played a blinder bringing this out because if they hadn't carpets would have been well and truely brushed under.

I would normally be saying something akin to "wash your mouth out for saying such a defence of the DM" but I have to concede for the first time I tip my hat to them!

The second team on the trot without Wasps representation. A shame, but probably representative of where we are as a team. I'm not sure I can recall the last time a World Cup team featured ZERO Wasps (even on the bench) though... Strong squad for Saturday though. Certainly on paper capable of doing one on the Kiwis... Whether we will though remains to be seen.

I actually agree with delaying any announcement, though not sure about announcing said delay... just gets tongues wagging and could easily distract Eng contingent anyway... Let's hope whatever sanction (if any) fits the crime (assuming they have been adjudged to have committed one!).

Come on Heathen, what are the rumblings you have heard? Or if not you, then anyone else heard the rumours being mentioned above and can ellaborate as to what the conjecture is?

Wasps Rugby Discussion / in the market for a fly half?

https://www.therugbypaper.co.uk/featured-post/33829/exeter-chiefs-hunt-for-successor-to-veteran-gareth-steenson/

Reading this article it appears that we are in the hunt for a Fly-half for next season... Do we think this is a successor for Gopps, or are we merely bolstering numbers?

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Wasps announce captains for 2019/20 season

I am delighted for both players. Great selections!

One thing I am a little confused by (and would like some clarification if someone would be so kind), is whether this is just a temporary stopgap until "Club Captain" Launchbury returns from World Cup duty. The way the bulletin is worded rather makes me feel like that is the case. This would be a real shame as I think both players deserve a season's run at captaining the squad...

Thanks

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Wasps' new kit - what we know so far
« on: August 15, 2019, 09:28:07 AM »
It doesn’t look as bad as I thought it would, but I do wish they had gone with just the white outline…

I am weirdly ambivalent about the home kit. Feels too much like they’ve sat down and gone “so… where can we move the strips now” doesn’t look different enough for me.

I do, however, love the away kit. Really nice! And the all black sponsor logo is really smart!

All that said, I will probably end up buying both! HAHA
