Wasps Rugby Discussion / JPR
« on: January 08, 2024, 09:47:22 PM »
Have sadly just heard that JPR Williams passed away today.
Legend of the Welsh game.
He played in the first international that I attended, and was often seen in my local area where he was a doctor at my local hospital.
Condolences to his family.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Season tickets, clubhouse, parking
« on: September 09, 2022, 03:20:38 PM »
As only 9 days to 1st home game, I just spoke to the ticket office, chasing info on above. Apparently parking passes car park C being sent out next week, as are season tickets. Clubhouse passes ro be collected on the day.

We shall see, especially as last year car park C was ANPR (occasionally, when it worked) or just say yes to "have you paid?" when it wasn't.

It wouldn't be Wasps if such matters were done in good time!!!

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Munster game in doubt?
« on: November 26, 2021, 10:21:29 AM »
Munster currently in SA, due to play Bulls tomorrow and
Lions on weekend of 4 December.
New Covid variant in SA is leading to tougher restrictions on entry to UK, I.e. quarantine in hotel for arrivals after this Sunday, so unless the game v Lions is called off, I don't see how our game v Munster can go ahead.
If Munster cannot travel/play the scheduled game on 12th at CBSA what is the situation. Do Munster forfeit? Is it declared a home win? A draw? Anyone know the regulations?

If the game is not played, are STHs refunded?

Edit- This theme also posted on Covid SA by Neil's, that I did not see until after posting so maybe best to use that earlier thread for replies.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Refreshing French Refereeing
« on: April 12, 2021, 07:10:19 PM »
I noted a few instances at the weekend of what I considered laudable decisions from Messieurs Poite and Ruiz.

Poite awarded a penalty try at the first instance of the maul being pulled down - not having multiple resets
Ruiz enforcing the 5 seconds after calling use it - and no repetition needed as the ball was subsequently played quickly
Also a crooked feed was penalised (Though I can't now recall which ref it was).

I still found it frustrating that the French film crews can only seem to find the requested extra angles when it is two French teams on the field

Premiership refs please note.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / This weekend's whistler
« on: March 17, 2021, 11:37:02 AM »
Ref for Friday is Anthony Woodthorpe .
Stated to be his fifth/sixth Premiership game.
Anyone know his style eg whistle happy/stop-start/lets the game flow etc?
ARs are Wayne Falla and John Meredith, TMO Graham Hughes.

Do not wish to pre judge, but am surprised that there isn't a more experienced AR (I.e. another premiership ref).

Wasps Rugby Discussion / OT- Broadband & TV experience
« on: November 17, 2019, 11:01:53 AM »
I am shortly moving house, and am reviewing broadband, TV etc providers. The speeds claimed and various packages of the different providers make direct comparison difficult.
Has anyone good or bad experience of BT, Virgin, Sky etc.?
I know that I want Sky (for cricket for Mrs FW), BT for Premiership rugby, and general documentaries/nature. I am indifferent for movies.
Any suggestions or good/bad experiences with providers?
