Wasps Rugby Discussion / Wasps sign Pieter Scholtz
« on: June 09, 2021, 12:01:35 PM »
Wasps are delighted to announce the signing of Pieter Scholtz, who will join the Club at the end of the season from Guinness PRO14 side Scarlets.

The 27-year-old tighthead-prop joined Scarlets in 2020 from South African side Southern Kings.

Scholtz has also appeared for the Golden Lions and Pumas in the Vodacom Cup and Currie Cup in his native South Africa.

So far this season Scholtz has played 8 games for the Welsh region.

Wasps Men’s Head Coach Lee Blackett said: “We are very happy to sign Pieter for next season.

“He is an impressive scrummager, who has performed to a high level in the PRO14 for Scarlets this season. We believe that he will be a strong addition to our group of props at the club.

“We are all looking forward to working with Pieter and seeing him play in a Wasps shirt.”

Scholtz added: “I am very excited to start this new journey with the club and put on the Wasps jersey.

“I have been talking to the coaches and I am really looking forward to working with them and the other players next season."

Faster fingers than me Tame!

Out of nowhere this one, hadn't seen any rumours.

Not too familiar with Crossdale but obviously a prospect if he's in the shadow squad.

Perhaps a replacement for Lima, who we now see as a 15 instead of 10?

Thank you, the good news was a 3pm yesterday so I figured the same would happen today & was ready.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Wasps sign Ali Crossdale
« on: January 28, 2021, 03:01:09 PM »
Wasps are delighted to announce the signing of Ali Crossdale, who will join the Club at the end of the season from Saracens.

The 23-year-old back-three player has been included in Eddie Jones’ England Shadow Squad for this year’s Guinness Six Nations.

Crossdale has been at Saracens since 2016, after stints with Newcastle Falcons and Sale Sharks’ Academies.

An England international at Under 18 and 20, he played at the World Rugby Under 20 Championship in 2017 and 2018 and received a call-up to the England senior squad for the first time in October 2020.

The former Sedbergh School pupil furthered his development in 2019 with a season in Christchurch, New Zealand, as well as a spell at Greene King IPA Championship outfit Bedford Blues last season.

Crossdale made his first-team debut for Saracens against Harlequins in 2017 and made four Premiership appearances for them last season, with an impressive strike rate of three tries.

Wasps Head Coach Lee Blackett said: “We are delighted to sign an exciting young English back like Ali for next season.

“I’ve known about Ali for several years since he was a highly-rated schoolboy at Sedbergh. He has a great age profile, with his best years ahead of him. We are all looking forward to working with Ali and helping him reach his potential in a Black and Gold shirt.”

Crossdale added: “Joining such a historic club that is consistently aspiring for greatness is something that really excites me.

"The entertaining style of rugby is something that I can’t wait to be involved in and I look forward to working with everyone at the club.”

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Elliot Millar-Mills joins Wasps family
« on: January 27, 2021, 03:02:35 PM »
Wasps are delighted to announce the signing of Ealing Trailfinders tighthead-prop Elliot Millar-Mills, who will join the Club at the end of the season.

Elliot joins his sister Harriet at Wasps. The 58-cap England Women’s back-rower is currently with Wasps Ladies.

Elliot has appeared for England Counties. In doing so the 28-year-old prop became the third member of his family to have gained international recognition, after his older sisters Bridget and Harriet, had already been capped by Scotland and England respectively.

Before joining Greene King IPA Championship outfit Ealing in 2018, the 121kg prop had spells at Edinburgh in the Guinness Pro 14 and Leeds Tykes.

Wasps Head Coach Lee Blackett said: “We are delighted to bring Elliott on board for next season.

“We have been very impressed by his consistent performances in the Championship over the last couple of seasons. We feel he can make the step up to the Premiership and add some strength in depth to our front row options.”

Millar-Mills added: “Wasps is a really exciting club, and I am delighted to be joining a team that is showing so much progression on and off the pitch.

“They have certainly given opportunities for players to come from the Championship and I hope I can add to that.

“I’d also like to thank Ealing Trailfinders for all they have done for me and I am hoping to leave Vallis Way on a high.”

Ok I've just finished talking to them on the phone.

All my issues have been resolved and the guy who dealt with me was nothing short of brilliant.

Well done Wasps.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Season Membership, discounts & refunds
« on: December 16, 2020, 01:39:33 PM »
Sorry if this information has already been discussed, but don't have time to plough through the posts.

I thought we would get a discount from last seasons missed games?

When I go though the process online, no discount is being applied.

also

Separate question, although I'm a season ticket holder I did buy tickets for my Worcester relatives, obviously the game didn't go ahead, sometime ago I was asked via email if I wished to have a refund, I said yes because this was not really my money.   I'm still waiting for that refund? anyone else get any money back.

I'm happy to renew, but I want these loose end tied up before I'm willing to do so, any advise?

Ashley Johnson went to Moseley as a player-coach, I'm sure they have just started their pre-season training, I think enticing Ashley back wasn't really on.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: The Pitch
« on: August 13, 2020, 01:59:54 PM »
The pitch always looks good at this time of year.

Unlike other shared pitches eg Bristol Bears/City I’m not confident it stands up to the demands and pressures of scrummaging etc.

The Ricoh pitch was relayed just before the seson kicked off, it didn't really have time to settle, hence why it ripped up a bit last year.

However, it has not been used since early March & hasn't had concerts on it this year so I'd expect it to be in the best condition it has ever been.

Wife's favourite she's going to be devastated.

I've now got to go and tell her and it's nearly dinner time  ;-)

Any suggestions on how to break this bad news?

Shame I was rather liking him. I don't think he was ever going to be first name on the team sheet, but he could do a job.

Good luck to Charlie

Well, he also says he is interested in Gloucester. Is he just being polite in a Coventry paper.

He wasn't interviewed by the paper.

This came from The Rugby Pod, he was interviewed by Andy Goode and Jim Hamilton, it wasn't a forced statement Jim simply asked him if he had any ambition to get back to a head coach role one day and he replied with he's still in touch with the owner at Wasps, he's a gentleman and I'd love to give him a throphy one day. He also went on to say that he has a job to do in France and wants to repay their faith in him.

Still far too many unknowns around. One of them is : how many of it's citizens is our Govt is prepared to kill off an attempt to return to some semblance of normality.

Really? is this the place to air blatent political nonsense like that.
