Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: TIGERS FREE TICKETS
« on: October 21, 2022, 09:10:51 PM »
I think it is good intentions, but wouldn't do that to myself. It isn't just that I have lost interest in Prem rugby, it is literally irritating to me now. I have a funny feeling that if I do dip my toe back into watching club rugby, it will more likely be Top14. Maybe see how the ex-Wasps are getting on at Racing.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: BB Breaking - Announcements

Another way of seeing hope. I quite liked the idea on Egg Chasers of the teams that have their p share taken starting fresh and forming a new competition and inviting teams to join. Let's imagine say 10 teams!

Worcester, Wasps plus 4 from prem
Ealing, Coventry, Pirates, Yorkshire,

A nice low staff cap, say £2m, worth a season ticket.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Trolls and the forum

Thanks VV, trolls never bother me, but they have been clogging up the threads recently.

I think it really sank in today, no morning all, no wondering how players will fair and all of the discussion before a game. The optimist in me has conceeded.

This has been a great place to come to when needing a break from the real world, seems odd to lose its reason for being.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Jacob.

My thoughts are that the first two reds were similar and pointed to technique, this one looked more like he was focused on the ball rather than the player, almost not a tackle. With the rules as they are players jump for everything, even when they didn't need to. Would it have been red if Jacob jumped or Courtnall didn't?

Maybe, like me, they don't believe that a sports trick cyclist is a real job.

I am a bit that way as well, but I do believe that a lot of sport is in the head and you have to train how you react to situations. It doesn't look like Lee is going full on Stuart Hooper just yet though.

I think Lee's view is similar to some on here where it feels like players react by trying to win it on their own rather than sticking to the process as Gopperth kept saying towards the end of Dai's time with the club. Interesting how they went on to the final that year.

Well, I will certainly be watching a few more Racing games. Not that they weren't a good watch anyway.

Thanks for an awesome match preview Jac, better detail than the big press ones.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: The Guardian view of Wasps
« on: September 09, 2022, 08:24:22 AM »
The press always seem to focus on the big name players who are often past their peak (if still very good) and the authors rarely have the knowledge to look at the players coming through and give meaningful insights on the new players. I think Wasps focus on bringing through academy players and spotting talent in the championship has been timed really well and ahead of many other teams. Many of the big players in the team now are still relatively recent promotions or players from the championship who's potential was missed by other teams. The big name players all came from somewhere.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Teams Up
« on: September 02, 2022, 02:46:11 PM »
Am I the only one that's slightly concerned that it isn't yet clear who is a definite starter and whether some player shave had enough minutes to be sharp for the start of the season?

If it's any consolation, I am concerned about number of minutes for readiness and I am also concerned about the converse for injury. I am not overly worried about definite starters as that can mean strength in depth and given injuries are inevitable it is important to have that depth, of course it could mean the converse. So basically I am slightly concerned about most things and will be for most of the season!

Seem to remember Houghaard's best games were when he played on the wing. Maybe that was just the way those particular games played out with all of the disruption.

Thanks for that Rugby in the Blood, it's in everyone's interest for both teams to thrive.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Rob Miller - Staying Local
« on: August 08, 2022, 09:12:37 AM »
Nuneaton seems to be attractive to premiership players and not just coaching. Rob Cook went back there to play when he left Gloucester and took a teaching job at King Edwards School in Stratford-upon-Avon. I wonder if Rob Miller has anything else planned, agree that he is too good, but perhaps he has had enough of playing in the premiership and wants a career change.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Would you have WLR back?
« on: August 08, 2022, 08:46:47 AM »
Is WLR just one of those players comfortable to try the 50% more often? He seemed to spend a lot of time upset when the team played safe, but WLR often had players like Wade to hand who seemed to be able scoop the ball at pace whatever height it arrived at. Not sure the team have that sort of ability, although Lee did suggest they were going to focus more on catch and pass in training for this season.

I’d still love to see them do all under 10’s for free.

That was the case a few years ago, obviously had to be accompanied. My daughter's season ticket was something like £10 nominal. Only got a year before she was too old, so not sure when that was stopped.
