I can't disagree with it either.

It's not a nice feeling to no longer be particularly proud to be a Wasp.

The true story will come out soon.

Machiavelli eat your heart out!

So, we are asked to understand that the debenture is, in effect, an advance payment of rent, for three years. So, what, 40 games? Plus, we can use the ground to train. Maybe for other games as well (like the academy, maybe the ladies team?). What would Wasps use Henley for then? It has a big farmhouse and converted barn buildings that has been (or was being) converted to apartments for academy players to live in.

I'm pretty sure the academy house isn't part of the EPIC.

49
Would you sign up with a club that's just a name at the moment?

No, but I might sign for a club that had a glorious history, a state of the art training centre, full agreement from the RFU to play at a passable ground and ambitious plans to own a much better one.

In all of this there is an unanswered question that is nagging at me.

If our new owners have the money available to secure a nice Premiership standard stadium for another company, why is it that we don't currently have a squad, or coaches?

We've been lead to believe it was due to lack of funds. Clearly that isn't the case...

The problem I see with the conspiracy theory is that it relied on Derek to swallow a massive loss in all this. If anyone was motivated to act in this way it was him and he doesn?t appear to be involved.

Exactly. I can categorically say Derek is not behind this.

When he sold the remainder of the training centre to Chris Holland it was to get liquid cash to pay the bond debt and keep the club going. He absolutely would not have definitely killed one club and possibly two in order to maybe make some money. He had bigger plans that that.

The story will come out soon enough.

I don't like the feel of this one little bit.

Sorry but I can't break promises.  He began well.  Man-management not good at all.  Sorry.

Really pointless to go "I'm not surprised, but I couldn't possibly explain why!". Adds nothing but speculation towards your comments, which begs the question why say anything if you can't elaborate?

I disagree.  Someone saying "I've got some confidential information which I can't share, but this fits well" is definitely worth hearing.

Assuming the info is correct, not saying it isn't but it's very easy to say I know this confidential info but can't say anything or prove it.

There used to be 2 guys on one of the Wasps Facebook groups who posted stuff claiming they had some insight, seemed close to the truth but never spot on, they got called out when they said something about Jimmy I think putting his house up for sale and Elizabeth Jaggs, tagged in Jimmy's wife asking if she had heard they were moving.

I get that, but this is Wonky, and she definitely mentioned it at the time. And on top of that has sponsored players in the past and met many of them and their families.

So if she says she's heard something my inclination is to believe her.

Playing rugby at a rugby training ground may not constitute a change of use, but surely they will need a licence to sell alcohol, and presumably some sort of licence would be needed before they could admit paying punters in the kind of numbers that would be expected. And the addition of a club shop and food outlets could in themselves be defined as a change of use. I think the council will not be short of means to put a stop to it if they felt so inclined.

The plan was always to host events there with food and drink so it may well be that a license for food/drink/music already exists.

Are there any specific requirements about home grounds in the Championship?

There was quite a lot of land around the EPIC that could potentially be utilised, some was for sale at the opening, and the Academy house was not short of land. But I have a feeling that might have been owned by Derek himself, and not be part of the training centre. I'd be interested to find out who owns it now...

It's pretty clear that the formerly amicable relationship between him and Wasps is no more, but it's pretty hard to disagree with the points he raises.

Dawbarn a listed Director of Wasps Holdings.

So Derek is bringing a case against a fellow Director, who came on-board after the 2012 purchase from Steve Hayes

I suppose the question is: What was there experience and supposed expertise that led to them being appointed as a director? And therefore how might they be seen as having failed in that role subsequently?

I'm sure the details will come out soon enough.

Well that is great news if it is true. And the lack of an immediate denial suggests it might be.

I'm a little worried about the idea of a stadium with hotel, and conference facilities being the main income generator, as we have seen only too well how fragile that can be.

Matches in Henley for the time being isn't a bad idea if they can sort the parking issues. They'll have to do a little work to add more loos and a proper bar, but that's definitely possible.

Also need a second changing room. There is one big one only.

For some reason I thought there was an academy changing room, but I can't actually picture it so I suspect you're right. Plenty of unused offices now I'd guess.
