It's a dreadfully loaded system - plead guilty and we'll reduce. Argue and we hit you with the full load.

Wonder if any player has taken in a tape to show what a ref has deemed safe in the same game compared to own penalty/ red card for dangerous play ? I know could risk ‘contempt’ ban weeks, for  contesting charge, but plenty of examples this week, before and after.

You can't use the 'why didn't you ping him also then?' defence. Same as asking a police officer why he didn't pull the two cars that overtook you for speeding as well.

Has to plead guilty and hope that they merit the red card and missing the rest of the game as punishment enough, which I think has happened before?

Is this Brad's second red card of the season?

Yes, he got one for 2 x yellow cards earlier in the season, no subsequent ban.

But it would be interesting to get a citing officer/ boards view on a refs decision making!

It would, but it won't happen and shouldn't as it would bring the game in to disrepute. They certainly aren't going to say it was a badly refereed game, a bad decision among many, and so no further sanction.

Best we can hope for is they think the red was punishment enough.

I’m imagining that the answer is no but is there any possibility the panel could decide he hasn’t contravened the law at all?

If there's no clear evidence of head contact, then they can throw it out. If they decide he hit a shoulder first, and the player was falling etc, they can clear him of the red and I believe issue a yellow.

I don't know if Wasps will attempt to appeal, no appeal and Brads record, and if we can get it in as low as possible, plus a week off for attending a high tackle course thing, he might not miss much at all. Appealing may not leave as much option if we don't succeed.

Raggs - would a "low guilty" mean he's ok for London Irish?

I imagine it will either have been thrown out, or he'll get a two/three week ban - and so miss the Irish game at least.

Agree with this. Can't see them going against the ref so he is likely to get a free Christmas at least.
