I think the lack of clarity around the Sarries thing is strange. So Sarries win at Glaws. Surely with a squad already found to be assembled outside of the rules. How can they just go on accumulating points with a squad that has been found to be in breach of the rules. It's all very odd. Re Cipriani - that was the version some Wasps fans refuse to remember even though it was the version we often got.

Let's not forget, we should have won that game last night. We were in it for 78 mins. We really should have beaten Irish and although I admit we were well beaten at Glaws we did flicker into life just into the second half. I do think we are just fine margins away from cracking it. Our attacking play has probably already thrown up as many quality moments as last season combined. I really don't think we're far away. We need to improve discipline and somehow acquire some confidence. The upcoming Euro games may have come at just the right time - keep the faith!

We made a similar mistake at the end of the Irish game. Throwing to the front at what was always going to be an uncontested line out allowing them to shove us into touch. Maybe this was in their minds. It all comes from the same place - our lineout has been unreliable for years.

What's a bit worrying is that we seemed to enter the season low on confidence. It's no good picking Sopoaga out again - he had very little go forward ball to conjure with. Also, I think I must be watching a different Shields to most. For me he's been outstanding. It's a lot of messy, gritty stuff but it's necessary. At the moment we have a real brittleness about us and what we really need to work on is being more clinical.

JTA was ok I thought and Harris was the issue. All you need to know about this is 19 penalties. 10 times out of 10 19 pens will get you no points. What on earth were we doing two mins from the end??

The Academy angle is an interesting one. Sarries always argued that their cap wasn't breached due to them developing and promoting talent from their academy. But these youths were themselves probably tempted with offers similar to those made to "big name" signings. So even the players helping reduce the cap have probably been attracted by dubious means.

Nice to have SM and JW back. I think they'll drop the high ball on our back three quite a bit. If we can secure it and run it back we could get some joy there. Our bench looks stronger so if we are in it after an hour it could be a good night.

For me Watson starts instead of Kibirige. I'd be tempted to stick with Odogwu against his old club. Sounds like Gaskell is touch and go so Flament gets a go. Not only does he seem to have usurped Vukasinovic but also Matthews.

With financials I prefer to look at actions rather than accounts. We're developing a training ground in an area of the country where land isn't cheap. We've appointed senior people in well paid jobs and there is still talk of a hotel being built opposite the Ricoh. These don't speak of money issues. I think the accounting term is substance over form.
I trust the money men have a plan, that's why they are there and we are supporters, let them do their job and let us support the team.

Yes, at first glance looks like our operating loss once you take out the CVC piece out has reduced by approx £2m

If Gopperth is to retire let's hope we're having thoughts about keeping him in some sort of coaching capacity. His on field nous was palpable on Saturday and it would be a real own goal to let that walk out the door.

Fascinating situation with one question answered but so many more left out there. What about the current squad? What about recompense for previous seasons losses etc etc etc. I must admit the statement that really caught my eye was that the sanctions are suspended pending the appeal (which will surely come). Do we really believe this will happen?
