Jimmy is most certainly retiring at end of the season
Has it been announced or is it information you've been given?

Truth is there aren't many out there. I'd like to see Lima tried there next year with either Umaga or Searle inside him. Spink and Miller are decent calls. Hopefully Jimmy has a couple of seasons in him to give us some breathing space to develop.

Really glad he mentioned the contribution of Shields. He seems to have had a bit of stick but to me he's been great and was outstanding yesterday. When they're all fit I'm glad it's not me having to pick a back row out of Shields, Willis J, Johnson, Carr, Vailanu, Willis T and Young.

A mix of a and b. Gopperth did well but it wasn't all about him. Sopoaga played a lot flatter (could argue due to JG). Vailanu punched holes and Shields was outstanding. Carr, Gaskell and Flament made heaps of tackles and Rowlands added ballast. Our back three ran and stepped well. Without a doubt Jimmy's presence helped but we were better overall. Our front row went well as well. He was great verbally as well. In answer to the 10 thing he was often first receiver but Sopoaga was also playing in traffic more which really helped us going forward.

Surprised - there seemed more there than that. The final will have taken a few off the gate including Bath fans. I think our "core" gate will level out at about 12,000.

Yes, thought he had a good game and made a difference. It did mean our back three wasn't the biggest under the high ball but MM looked solid enough. If he can stay fit he looks like a quality addition.

Yeah, thought he did well. Did he miss the Fekitoa knock on towards the end of the first half? Didn't spot some in at the side and off feet scenarios but then again no-one else does either. I'd be happy with him each week.

Ah, the reassuring glow of a W. That felt a lot better. Crisper, more fluent. Working back through the team I thought the front row were great (apart from ZZ's totally bizarre kick. Thought Rowland had a great game as did Gaskell and when TF came on he was solid. Back row - BS outstanding, SV not far behind and NC effective. Robson delivered quicker ball than last week. For me LS was great and let's not forget his place kicking. JG - excellent. Was the leader out there and made such a difference as first receiver. Fekitoa carried strongly and I think will be an asset. The back three line last looked lively going forward but I don't think we'll get away with playing that trio very often under the high ball. Minozzi looked dangerous. Overall much better. JG made a huge difference, our 8 looks like a real find and everything feels better with a W.

Looks a lot crisper so far and we could have been more up without mistakes. Lima looking good and playing a lot flatter. JG as first receiver more often than not. Front row have been effective and our 8 is carrying well.

If you can't scrummage you lose. Some huge positives for England especially 6 and 7 coming out of the tournament. We were outplayed, out muscled and out thought today. Eddie has a problem at FB as Daly just cannot catch or defend to the level required internationally. The tournament has put us back on the map though.

Morning all. Will be setting off in about an hour or so for the main event after this mornings warm up. Hope our tactics are a bit more sensible than what I've seen this morning.

Vailanu is a good option for me. When we have all our sixes and sevens fit I expect Carr to start at 8 most of the time with SV capable of impact later on.

So many on here have bemoaned our lack of heavyweight forwards capable of trucking the ball up over the gainline. For me he's a starter, with a more mobile Carr coming off the bench to run at/around tired defenders.

This. I do wonder how often people comment from their TV chair rather than see all the player movement live.
For me he is is big improvement on this time last year when Hughes was virtually broken (the fact he (Hughes) is working now is due to a lack of Eddie more than anything else).
I've seen him live three times. Agree he's a big improvement on Hughes a) he wants to be here and b) he's been on the pitch. I guess it's each to their own in terms of him and Carr. I think Vailanu is a great prospect but at the minute he's carrying a lot but not always making yards and he's gone on his own a lot. Carr is a proper player.

Great to see Jimmy back. I'm a bit worried about our wingers defensively. Kibirige's positioning has been off the mark so far and we now have an untried duo alongside in the back three (exciting though it is to get Minozzi in). Stooke and Ewels v Gaskell and Rowlands could be an issue. Excited to see how the combination of DR, LS, JG and MF goes - could be great.

No surprises - feel for Launchbury. Agree with Mike 909 - whilst we've been great against Aus and NZ the dice rolled in our favour earlier - especially the cancelled game. Here's hoping it continues.
