Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Team's up
« on: October 07, 2017, 07:32:00 PM »
If some of the experienced players can step up this might not be the pasting I dread it being.  I'm not worried about us losing it, but I'd like to see some of the new faces make a mark and do what Daly, Launch, Jones et al did a few years ago.

Well at least Rose isn't involved.

I think Chesty's was very forgivable.  I don't think he meant to go off his feet but misjudged his momentum.  JCW's running straigh into the side of the maul was silly at best.  But bearing in mind how may pennalties they won for us at the scrum I can forgive them.  I would however like someone to be in the ref's face next time asking how many times they have to be penalised for the same thing at the scrum before he actually does something about it.

With PDJ being stretchered off who is our 4th choice Tight head?  Do we even have one?

We certainly didn't deserve to win that, but even with that the level of officiating was terrible.

So Rose argued with the ref to penalise Hughes when he's already said it wasn't foul play.

If a player argues with the ref they get sent off. Why is the fraudster allowed to do it?

I really don't know to be honest. I might not start Simon, he seemed a long way off the pace.

Also Symmons not starting is a big call, he has played very well in the past.

I'm not going to disagree much with that.  I have been Simmo's biggest supporter for a long time, but something was not right with him last week.  Personally I'd probably start Gabi if he is fit.  The offloads and tackles he was making at the Sale game were incredible.  I will hoever be disappointed to see JdJ in the squad unless we have truly run out of centres without him.

I've been wondering about the team were going to put out for this, and I'm really have no idea who is even fit any more.

I think it's gonna be a struggle for us.

Me neither. I should, as the dispassionate eye can often be a lot more objective, but I really don't want to.

I don't think I have seen Owain James yet. I remember your views on Jackson and could see how his speed combined with awesome passing really suited the team, shame his kicking wasn't quite there.

Sounds a bit like Cips to me. :D

I think Gopperth is a brilliant player, but is not the 10 we need. When we had him and Jackson I argued that Jackson should start and maybe play Gopps at 12.  If Cips is out long term, and Eastgate is injured too we really need another flair 10. Jimny can play 12 with Gaby/Daley outside him.

Until then JdJ needs to find his feet, there is no reason to start him over Macken from what I've seen.

And let's face it, we need to start asking questions about injuries. This is getting silly.

Hmm, well I'm not sure how to think about that.

I am not convinced we can win this one.

Well that's not actually true.  I know we can win it.  But I doubt we will.

There is a definite monkey on our backs with Chiefs and I don't know if today is the day to throw it off.  But a bit of me keeps thinking of the Valentine's day massacre and what we managed to do that day with a team that wasn't at full strength.

If JdJ clicks, then we might do better than I hope.  But whilst SuperJimmy is a rock of a man who is never going to take a backward step against them, I do think we will miss Cips' magic.

Time will tell...

No Matt Mullan, sad for him, but good for us as he'd only end up crippled.
