Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Kent!
« on: October 23, 2023, 06:31:12 PM »
Well I know how people felt when the move to cov happened. Feel little sad. Kent to far for me. I honestly wonder if will get my love back even if wasps do start again. I've not watched any Orem rugby since the demise and not sure no longer being a season ticket will have same pull unfortunately. I feel cheated by the whole thing to be honest. Not this as much as the whole emotional investment I've made to be let down.

Confirmed by RFU.  That?s it then game over, also no way rugby creditors will now be paid.

Apologies if missed in thread anywhere. But what is puzzling me is the mention that wasps will train and base operations at six ways. Why need to train there given Henley? That doesn?t stack up to me.

Wasps at sixways would kill me returning as season ticket holder. I get many fans travelled from south and I respect that. But for me it?s an hour each way. Solihull would have been ok to 30mins or so and even though I?m cov Ricoh was 30mins. Hour though is just too much for me personally and if true I?m a little gutted.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Worcester Warriors Gone
« on: February 10, 2023, 04:31:47 PM »
Maybe someone who has more knowledge of subject can tell me if I am right or wrong.

So administrator is legally bound to maximise returns for creditors. In terms of the Worcester situation there is a separate situation whereby RFU demand rugby creditors are paid in order for team to be resurrected in championship. The payment to rugby creditors is outside of the administration process as otherwise I guess funds would have to be allocated between all creditors.

So In theory the winning bid could have been the lowest. Example winning bid offers ?10m. Next bid is ?6m but they want to return to championship so also have to pay the ?8m to rugby creditors. However administrator only can act on the ?10m versus ?6m. Is that correct understanding?

If it is then I am not surprised how is has gone. The land and facilities are the prize. If you dont care about rugby returning you get them at lower overall cost.

This is guy. Some rugby connections.

With Bobby Bridge no longer reporting on wasps it’s difficult to find out latest status. Worcester guy quite active and seems they have some flexibility over Monday deadline. For wasps has anyone a clue if we will meet deadline or not? My feeling is missing next year will kill off any realistic chance of survival in a form that is anything like the wasps we have just lost.

It’s finally come to pass. No words. Empty. Maybe small hope exists but it wont be with the same group of players or staff.

Wasps as I know it has gone for good.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Feeling quite melancholy
« on: October 16, 2022, 02:29:25 PM »
Feeling like there’s a pending death in the family. I’m a grown man and quite gutted at what lies ahead. My weekends are made by going to watch wasps play. Something to look forward to after a tough week at work. Even though we’ve not won of late I had a feeling this squad was not far off clicking. Now we will never know. Some other fans will get to cheer as Jack jackals for the umpteenth time in a game. Some other club will celebrate a barnstorming run by Alfie. Another team will get to watch Charlie develop into an exceptional talent.

For me I’m not sure rugby will hold the same pull again. I haven’t watched any game this weekend which is unheard of. The results have passed me by. I simply will get no joy watching g the remainder of the league play.

I have been a wasps season ticket holder and fan from the day they moved to Coventry. Don’t let the Twitterarti have you believe nobody local mourns their demise. The vocal minority always seem loser on twitter.

I can understand why southern fans disliked the move to Coventry as I will hate if they move away in any form. I simply can’t travel regularly to see games. So would not see nearly as many matches live.

Sadly I think even that is unlikely. Administration will be announced tomorrow. Within days the leading players will be off. If there is t a prepackaged deal then the arena will go to highest bidder and wasps will either slip into oblivion or smutty to start again next season in the championship with a squad that will be unrecognisable from the one that took the pitch versus saints.

I will likely cancel my BT subscription. Delete the premiership app and unfollow many rugby Twitter profiles. Not to be revengeful but because it’s too painful.

Feeling pretty shit.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Wasps facing relegation
« on: October 10, 2022, 12:13:56 PM »
I don’t think we should be treated differently to Worcester we should be treated as per rules. Rules which state don’t get relegated if issues linked to COVID. Worcester were run by cowboys, wasps I don’t think is the same. COVID clearly derailed the situation.

Hang on, can someone clear up the rules? I thought it was relegation to the deepest, darkest depths of the leagues unless you can prove a no-fault (or whatever the term is) administration.  But that was changed recently to a 35 point in season reduction?

Secondly, are there legal/financial benefits of a team going into Administration prior to a deal being closed? - Jim O'Toole wanted Warriors to get into Admin to get the deal done and I thought i'd read somewhere that one of the bidders/interested parties for us had asked for the same?

My understanding is that penalties can be avoided if club can demonstrate administration is directly linked to the pandemic.

Disappointing result think we all agree. But even with the off field distractions I would say this:

I actually think today was the best showing for sometime of attacking shape. We didn’t seem one dimensional or easy to read, add it first half Gloucester and bath displays and I would say we have provided more flair than last season combined. Atkinson is improving game by game. For me I can see glimpses of hope. Frustrated today, certainly. Totally despondent, definitely not.

I’ve seen some crazy tweets this evening from some of the public “big fan” accounts. The wasps report and the rob guy that runs it is unbelievable. Spend half the time complains about wasps fans, then slag the team off then complain they get abuse for it. I actually have seen none. One fan called Emma rightly pointed out differing with their opinion is not abuse.

Pete Nutall view -

https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/rugby/wasps-rugby-news-24729548

I don’t often post but I’m so p*seed off. I liked Pete as announcer and wish he hadn’t been treated so badly and let down but he is a disgruntled ex employee. Also have to say I think Bobby bridge is good journalist but his recent wasps coverage is just stories about fan posts on Twitter. I’ve seen no real analysis or attempt to discover the bond issue etc.

Some fans are beyond parody one vocal lady commented on a post agreeing she didn’t like all the negative fan comments and the. Commented on Pete’s saying she was glad hadn’t renewed season ticket and doing the same negative comments she slagged off in other post! Then there are guys from wasps report who slag everything off on back of them being hard done to but in actual fact are some of the most negative posts I’ve seen.

On the pitch issue I really don’t see what wasps could have done better communication wise. I genuinely think they want to build the cuff relationship so wanted to remain silent but in end had to comment due to negative ccfc briefings. Who is to blame for state of pitch, who is right and wrong I don’t know but I get why wasps would not want public slanging match.

The finances are a concern of course but there are financial rules and only so much the club can say. I really don’t know what people expect from the club here “we are in financial difficulty we’re doing our best” hardly a statement any company releases.

To the fan accounts who say won’t renew season tickets, won’t buy shirts, will only go to away games - good strategy financially starve the club more. Don’t get the logic. Rant over.
