and IF-W might deserve a go too next week.

I'm with you on that call.

Bit of a catch 22 now, Kibirige probably won’t be considered on Tuesday after playing on Friday so we play Feyi-Waboso instead, but then he subsequently won’t play the following weekend against Saints because of the turnaround.
We have enough other young guns to play on Tuesday like Dawkins, Rokodrava, Kucera but it’s against Leicester so need to play a decent team too. Maybe Odogwu and IF-W split shifts at 14 ready to challenge for the right wing spot against Saints along with Mehson as it has to be up for grabs now.

Have you forgotten that next weekend is our bye week?

Yes I did, bit of a shame to come at this stage  really now we could push on with the momentum.
In which case, anyone who’s not had a game or many minutes and is fit plays against Leicester - put a strong team out and then every spot is up for grabs after the bye week

This isn’t good.
Whilst I think we needed a reshuffle in the backrow and I think we played a lot better last night (and as a unit in the backrow) without Alfie, this is a long injury for him and I wish him a speedy recovery.
Also puts a lot of pressure on Tom Willis for a while.
Hopefully the three from last night plus Morris can stay fit until Brad is back and then we have to rotate sensibly.

Curran coming through can’t seem to stay fit and the younger backrows probably aren’t quite there yet. Cardall at 6 is probably still an option at some stage as we saw with Gaskell occasionally but any more injuries in the backrow department and we could be in trouble.

Hope Frost and Hougaard are back soon as already we’re one more injury away from big trouble at 9, hooker and LH

Not a lot of the ball went left this week for Kibirige and he didn’t come off his wing as much this week looking for action. Unfortunately for him a lot of Bath ball went left and Muir looked far superior.
Odogwu may be back, Crossdale can play wing and IF-W might deserve a go too next week.

Such a relief to get the win but our decision making again when under pressure almost let us down.
Gabe in at the side, the Jacob high tackle, Launchbury offside is maybe a bit more excusable as that can happen to anyone like that and the Kibirige push all cost us valuably in points and territory.
Also when we had chance to get possession or play territory again whatever happened at the back of that maul between Dobby and Gabe was awful and another poor decision.
We often compound a shift in momentum by adding to it with poor decisions

Risky end, if he’d hit the post full on and they’d gone up the other end and scored.

Glad we got the win but we do make it difficult for ourselves on the field and with coaches making changes.

Right wing up for grabs next week definitely

Ugo correct too many changes on the 50 minute mark

I agree, don’t think we needed to make any changes then, they were the ones who would have needed to make changes - we could have responded later

Tom West dominating an England international

Were they not flat mates when Academy players?

Were at school together, definitely from 16 but possibly a lot earlier than that

Hoping the West-Hislop early change won’t come back to bite us

That little offload from Carr is exactly why I think he should be in the team ahead of Barbeary. That subtlety, link play and selflessness is a game changer

Right… how can we snatch defeat from the jaws of victory this week?

Bath will be desperate for the first score so we’d better be concentrating

Good to see Bassett can still score out of nothing really, great finish from him and that’ll do wonders for his confidence.

Creativity looking good with Umaga, Atkinson and Ofendaal - it’s definitely freeing up Spink a little more and bringing players in in the wider channels - hopefully Zach will see some action too

Making lots of metres quite comfortably again. Willis T, looking fantastic in the carry again.

Hougaard off injured, Kibirige on

The ball in play statistics are still so terrible and the main jibe my league mates always have against union.
In more high stakes games it seems even worse.

Of course the lineout and the scrum are two main factors that differentiate union from league but league have really sped up the game with the way they restart the game.

No penalties and only free kicks from scrums would be a good thing for me but this would potentially rule out the need for the bigger lads over time and we still need the game to be for all shapes and sizes.
More stringent timekeeping from refs as Australia saw recently would help. Never sure why a FH takes so long to organise everything when kicking a penalty to touch, just get the ball and kick it.

Especially when his last ban was for a head butt, I think he is a lucky boy.

A pleasant new thread to read.

Not sure whether everyone will be up for this mentally but Bath being out opposition is probably the best we could have hoped for apart from Worcester.

Good to see West start this time and after watching the Bristol game back again I think Porter was decent and Robson poor off the bench so not a massive issue with this selection, especially as Ben Spencer isn’t involved for them.

Good luck to Jacob coming back in, the problem is that our attacking systems will change yet again.
He isn’t a run it back attacking threat like Crossdale, in fact as we saw last year he regularly got turned over doing this. He’ll want to be in as first of second receiver, which then takes away some of the good stuff we’ve seen from Atkinson and Odendaal. Will see what happens here i guess
