Both Cips and Rieder out for months.

Best hurry up that plan to find some short term cover!

Very interesting read as ever.

I do wonder if Cips feels more secure with Gopps outside him.  It almost feels like he feels he has to concentrate more on defence when he doesn't have SuperJimmy next to him in the line.  Whether he does or not I don't know, but if so I guess it should improve as Gabi settles in more.  Though it seems he played a lot better at 13, but that creates the dilemma of where we put Daly...

That was pretty much my response.  Though I bet EJ still wouldn't pick him first...

As a Tigers supporting friend of mine just said: if we carded everyone who was a bit of a dick then only Launchbury would be left.

Welcome Stig!

Ignore Raggs, I might have set it up, but I fully intend to pass all the actual work on to him soon... :D

Woke up realising that today I am officially OLD. Looking forward to taking the family up to the Ricoh for a birthday treat in hospitality. Leaving Prestwood at about 10:30.

Hard to believe that it was 60 years ago today I saw my first ever Wasps match!

Just a reminder - avoid the Coventry city ring road today - cycling event with major road closures.

Might affect buses from the station as well.

Happy Birthday Roger! I hope the team get you a nice 5 points as a pressie!

Good Morning Raggs, ElliesBoss, and NellyWellyWaspy,

It's a bit overcast down here in Hapmshire and looks like rain.  I hope it's better up in Cov.  I was up nice and early as I was supposed to be wrestling but my training partner cried off so I'm sat watching TV with the kids.  Sadly I am committed to a garden party this afternoon so I will be following online where I can.

My head says we should have this in the bag.  But there is a part of me that is concerned it may be Quins' turn to pull a surprise out of the bag.  That being said if the 9-10-12-13 axis comes anything like close to its potential then it will be a thing to behold.

I suspect the battle for us will be in the set piece.  If we can negate their front row we'll be just fine.

If the judgement does go against us we can always appeal 8 times in a row...

Wasn't it Rose who was never going to ref again after getting convicted of benefit fraud?

Wasps Rugby Discussion / The dilemmma continues...

After Sale I thought Dan had finally put the discussion about who is our best 9 to bed, but Joe stepped up against Wuss and showed he is still a brilliant choice.

I don't envy Dai the decisions he has to make!

I didn't get to watch that game, but saw the score. Can anyone summarise for me?

It is indeed. Almost as though there is a word/phrase missing, like 'Coming to the end of his injury insurance cover period.' Like they might have 12 months insurance to cover medical and wages.

Yes, that does fit.  I hope not though.

He has a bad break. The medicos on the forums discussed this, and I recall that, under normal circumstances, he would have been back playing in 4-6 months. It seems that he is OK to walk on it, so it would follow that, under stress, the fracture must hurt. That is not normal. Maybe that suggests that the fracture has not healing, is not healing, or has micro fractures. Whatever, the prognosis cannot be good. He will have been scanned, prodded and probed by the best, but they have found nothing to explain it. Does sort of make you wonder about those rumours around Jaco Kriel.

I worked in Orthopeadics for several years.  I started off in A&E and ended up teaching fracture immobilization for the British Orthopaedic Association.  I'm a little out of date, but not completely.  The description in the press was a fractured fibula, but as he also needed and MRI to assess the soft tissues suggest that it was either a nasty fractire disloaction of the entire ankle, or a rupture of the ankle ligaments with a break higher up towards the knee (both possible from judo).  Either one should have been surgically fixed and back to training in a few months.  Even when LBND did his ankle and it was fixed he played on it fairly quickly, and then had another bout of injury time when the metalwork was taken out.  So far Jones has been out for a year.  There is no break of the fibula that could have you out for a year unless there are major complications down the line.

The other thing that worries (if worry is the right word) is James Haskell. It is most unusual for a player, out of contract at the season's end, to publicly say that he wants to stay with a new contract, and yet no contract has been forthcoming. He also has no sponsor, although not all the squad do.

I'm not too worried about Haskell announcing things others wouldn't.  After all that is just the way he is.  He likes to make sure people are talking about him.  I'm more worried about whether he ever regained proper fitness after the op he had on his foot.  He's never quite seemed the same player.  Whilst at his best he is world class, when he's not on form he's definitely not a nailed on starter...
