I believe Wasps would have qualified for Europe by now, maybe more if the team were not ravaged by injury for the first half of the season.

I wonder how Wasps will deal with the kick, chase, smash. Might be why Crossdale finally gets picked? Sometimes wonder if it is better to concentrate on timing the tackle rather than try to compete for every ball and get hammered.

I found this entry that gives some perspective, if not quite complete;
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_2022%E2%80%9323_Premiership_Rugby_transfers

I think Wasps are likely to emerge next season in a relatively better place than most other clubs because it feels like they started this process of bringing in academy earlier than most other clubs. It seems to take most championship and academy players a year or two to start to show, obviously some notable exceptions. So I think other teams are in for a couple of years of disruption as Wasps have started to settle.

I really don't think the backs are far off. They were a few sympathetic passes away from beating a French team full of internationals.

"Of the eight semi-finalists across the Heineken Champions Cup and Challenge Cup, five are French with only Leinster, in the top competition, and Saracens and Wasps, in the second-tier one, breaking the Top 14 monopoly."

'For the purposes of taking water to players...'

Not to pass on tactical information then.

Regardless of whether it is a good idea or not, Harlequins is a terrible example and nothing like any team going to Yorkshire. What is Simon Massie-Taylor on about? How do we end up with people that think illogically like this in charge of things?

Tricky this year as lots of the team have been great at different times during the season, but has to be Brad for so often appearing to hold things together for the whole season.

There was me thinking that the backs are starting to look exciting again.

Didn't have a problem with it. Enjoyed the game. I cannot imagine they make any money out of the streaming. Just happy to have something legal to use to see the game.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Biarritz v Wasps: Post Match Thoughts.
« on: April 17, 2022, 08:47:26 AM »
Re-watched the tries, and 3 of ours came about from a Biarritz player shooting up out of the line and Atkinson or Barbeary exploiting the resulting dog-leg. Emphases the importance of a cohesive defensive line and playing heads up in attack.

Of theirs, 2 are from mauls where the Biarritz player breaks off just after our player (perhaps Frost in both cases?) joins the maul as it starts to creak forward (not blaming Frost). I guess after the first time it happened we put Barbeary there but he was slow off the mark and then took the player too high to stop him. Something for the coaches to solve.

Armitage's try for them should not have happened (at least not off first phase), yes he has decent acceleration but a no.8 shouldn't be making it over from that far out when the scrum doesn't wheel a lot, seems Willis hesitated about which way he had gone or something.

I think on one occasion it was Gabby, I wondered if Gabby joined the maul to early and so couldn't make the tackle, but maybe if he hadn't then they would have rumbled over anyway. Perhaps it was earlier in the maul that Biarritz did the damage when setting up and then good awareness from the ball carrier.

Yep, worked ok for me as well, had a couple of glitches in the second half, but managed without any swearing at my phone or the Chromecast. Glad Biarritz made a game of it.

It's a shame there isn't a free test/help stream that we could log into to make sure everything is working. The number of times I end up turning the air blue as I miss the first ten minutes...

Feel somewhat reassured now the 'watch live' button has popped up for the Irish game as pointed out by Ross.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Good Morning all
« on: April 15, 2022, 08:24:01 AM »
Morning all, best wishes to you and yours. I am in a similar position to you Wiltshire Wasp. Although part of me wonders why I am bothering to try and keep my bugs away from others as nobody else in the house seems to be bothered (not at all miffed that people have decided it isn't important now it comes to my turn to be waited on!).

Looking forward to the game today, team looks strong and has for the most part had time to settle. At the last game Joe looked back to his grinding disruptive best and there were glimpses of the Wasps flair.

Here's to a great performance between two great teams. Come on you Wasps.

Safe travels, if anyone was able to.
