Do you have the normal BT Sports channels of 408 - 410?

Vellacot's performance seemed to mirror Robson's from this time last year. I don't think we should underestimate a player coming back from serious injury. I've never had a knee injury but surely stepping back onto the paddock, you would have question marks in your own mind.

He got through it.. some good passes.. some bad. We've got 4 scrumhalves (unless Ohgre can play there as well??) so Blackett/Gleeson can give him a rest.. use Porter.. Robbo and Wolstie..

This is (the schedule), reminding me of old school 7 tournaments.. a very quick turnaround. You don't want to injure yourself.

Minimal training in between games

.. Is this the way forward?

Myself and NWW have been juggling logons for later on to watch the game.

After a bit of blind searching.. BT are casting tonight's other games on their extra channels.

If you have a BT Youview TV box (and I'm presumming this is the same with a Sky box with a BT sub) the extra channels aren't near the main BT sports channels..

Wasps is on Channel 452 (as opposed to the noprmal 409) on the BT YouView box if you don't want to bother with casting from a laptop/phone to your TV

I have a feeling the last game he started was towards the end of the previous season.. towards the last few games and he played 10.. against tigers perhaps?

Doyle is part of the old school refs club (Barnes might be slipping into it) where he tries to be the players best friend.

I've only watched snippets of the other games but I didn't hear or see much back chat aimed at Dickson from either Saints or Wasps which is refeshing.

Some squads seem to have players who are constantly in the ear of the ref.. appealing, questioning every decision.

So Wade is currently in the practise squad.. so I'm guessing that's a bit like our acadamies but

"NFL regulations stipulate players must earn a minimum of $136,000-per-season (£102,800)"

Slightly weird havng a minimum wage set that high rather than  a maximum wage cap for individual players.

I presume that's what NFL believe is an amount to have a comfortable standard of living?

I actually think some top level refs don't know what constitutes a forward pass.

A ball seemingly travelling forwards doesn't mean its a forward pass.

Most passes from a player running at speed actually travels forward.. despite being passed backwards.

I wish him all the best but feel he has (from an development point of view) perhaps not made the right choice.  Very very sorry that he is leaving - from his point of view was well as Wasps.  Bonne chance Thibaud.

I agree with you. An offer from Toulouse would be hard to turn down but how much game time will he get.

Am I right in thinking he's the only French player in the EPL?

2 seasons ago he was playing for Loughborough Uni 5ths.. the mind boggles.

In my mind foul play would be stamping on an arm or ankle. eye gouging.. so I'm with Hymen.

This looks pretty deliberate..

I did wonder why Launchers looked Dazed and Confused (Lead Zep)

Forwards win games.. the backs decide by how much

Yellow was the right call by the ref. It might seem a bit lame to those who played rugby 20 - 30 yrs ago but times have changed.

I know what that tackle and the previous one did though by Feki.. no-one wanted to truck up the outside 13 channel.. especially if Mitchell was giving floated passes that opend up the ribcage.

I'm wondering what Fraser Dingwall did to deserve those passes? You could see it in his eyes.. thank god Fekitoa is off the pitch

I think JTA had a bit of a wake up call last autumn.

He's tall for a TH but as someone mentioned eons ago.. so was Sheridan.

He should be giving looseheads all sorts of trouble (being a mahoosive unit) but I have a feeling he wasn't at the peak of physical fitness when he arrived and because of that was using his height as an anchor point.. his feet/legs were too far back which gave the flanker and 2nd row nothing to push against which meant he'd either lose balance or hinge upwards.

He's either widened his stance or lost upper body weight which is now allowing him to choose what he wants to do. Either be a solid platform on our ball or go chasing the oppo LH on their ball. You could hear encouragement from Willis and Rowlands (I think) for JTA to wrestle for every inch... wear his oppo down.

On a side note..

I'm not sure about the overlayed crowd noise. Maybe BT think its a good addition.

Its a bit like watching a French/German/Scandanavian film with dubbing. The plot is playing out in front of you but you know the translated voice over isn't quite in sync

It sounds like a continuation of the 3 month wage cut. Wasn't this the reason that Roberts was baulking at signing on the dotted line. Surely Wasps with a 25% wage cut, would be more than Dragons with a 25% wage cut.

The deciding factor will presumably be the appearance and extra money Rowlands will potentially earn by representing Wales. Roberts doesn't have that luxury

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Refs not consistent so far
« on: August 16, 2020, 08:28:39 AM »
Seeing as we've (the forum) haven't talked much rugby recently.. can someone do a quick run through of the new breakdown rules.. or is it just interpreting rules differently, that were already in place?
Think it's a focus on staying on feet, entering from the side, and holding on the floor. Bit of talk about it here: https://www.irishtimes.com/sport/rugby/gerry-thornley-global-pause-allows-rugby-to-tidy-up-the-breakdown-1.4222329

Thanks for the link. So World Rugby has effectively asked refs to enforce current laws,  the ones a lot of us posters continually moan about not being enforced (offsides, straight throw or put in) and from the snippets I watched yesterday, not much has changed.

The article (Irish Times) quotes

"Referees deserve some sympathy here, for if they had applied the letter of the law then penalty counts would be tripled or quadrupled"

This shouldn't be the refs' problem.

Keep pinging players and they will stop. It shouldn't be the refs responsibility to let things slide just to keep the game flowing and stop it being a whistle fest.
