Wasps Rugby Discussion / Who to watch tonight?
« on: August 26, 2020, 05:27:35 PM »
Leicester vs London Irish
Saracens vs Gloucester
Worcester vs Harlequins

Enjoy watching Glaws on a good day but can see them getting well beaten tonight and generally cannot watch Sarries at the moment. Leicester and Quins have been pretty awful so far but have paid for BT sport so feel I should be watching one of these soon.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Bath Tickets
« on: February 23, 2020, 02:06:58 PM »
I’ll be back in the UK from overseas in the Falklands this Easter and going to my first Wasps game with the family since a Connacht preseason game in August 2017 at the Ricoh.

Looking at Bath tickets at Twickers and they only have a few blocks for sale at the moment. To anyone in the know are they being opened up slowly with more to come in the coming weeks?

Also, maybe because I haven’t been in the UK much in recent years, but isn’t £32 for an adult ticket a little steep if Bath want to fill the stadium?
Any advice greatly appreciated

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Lozowski
« on: December 30, 2019, 08:24:22 PM »
Ruck.co.uk have Loz linked again to us in their ‘top players out of contract this year’ article. Also says it’s is likely due to the departures of Lima and Jimmy at the end of the season.
Perhaps nothing new here about Jimmy and Lima as likely Jimmy will retire.

Also not sure what Loz’s best position is anymore, wanted to play 10, perhaps the long term successor to Barritt at 12, shunted out to 13 with the recent trend of more of a playmaker at 13 but I do think he could really be the long term solution for us at 12.
Likes the contact and can tackle well above his weight. An attacking threat on his own but also has the creativity to bring others in around him.

If Lima is off he can also cover 10 with Searle and Umaga as wel as 13 and 15 of course.
Only problem might be our assumed reasons for his departure last time... thought he didn’t want to move to Coventry, perhaps a differing of opinion with Dai rumoured ( although could have made that one up)

This would be an incredible signing for me

Anyone there tonight?

Wonder if there will be any more departures mentioned or any other rumours about?

Wasps Rugby Discussion / European Champions Cup Qualification.
« on: May 03, 2019, 11:24:18 PM »
Looking at the intricacies of the league this year and European cup qualification for next year to secure top six we simply have to beat Bath on Sunday.
The money involved playing in this competition is completely necessary for us as a club at the moment, (although often teams playing a season in the challenge cup often have a chance to play the youngsters more and often have better league form that year.)

Saints should win tomorrow which puts the top 5 on 55 points or above so if we lose but pick up 2 bps against Bath the top 5 will still be out of reach.
Therefore it becomes a straight shoot out between us and Sale in the final round for 6th.
They have Glaws at home, who would have already sewn up an away semi and might rest a few or not need the result aside form it giving them momentum. We of course have Quins at home.

However, there is also the back door of the European Cup’s 20th team.... and apologies if you know this already.
which goes to a variety of winning and losing European final stagers if they have not qualified for the Cup already.
So we need the loser of Clermont La Rochelle to finish in the top 14 top 6, La Rochelle are currently 6th and should have enough to stay there.
Next comes losing challenge cup semi finalists if they are not qualified which would leave Sale (so Sale can potentially qualify for the Champions Cup where ever they finish)
If Sale finish 6th then the 20th side that qualifies is the highest placed non qualified finisher in the league of the champions cup final winner this year, Sarries or Leinster.
So if we lose to Bath we might be cheering for Sarries next weekend!

(We then need to hope we beat Quins and that Bristol lose away at Newcastle on the last day of the season)

So ultimately we need to finish 6th or:

La Rochelle must finish top 6
Then Sale must finish top 6
Then Sarries have to win CC
Then we need to secure 7th.

2 more wins would be a far easier and deserving method

Frustrating viewing.
Back to our old ways, kicks out in the full, handling errors galore, cannot string any phases together, lacking the intensity and leadership from last weekend.
Or... just getting beaten by a far superior side
