Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Diageo dump Irish

i would have thought there was a strong enough association already between Diageo's products and bad male behaviour towards women.

Dai mentioned about reducing injuries. I would like to see all of the staff and players and contracted experts putting their heads together in a David Brailsford type of marginal gains approach all about reducing major injury, try and find something there as for two seasons we have suffered.

It means rotating players, rather than playing the best team he can make from whoever is fit. Dai can be a bit behind the times on these issues.

Exeter ran out of scrum halves. That was the defining change in the game. Maunder offered little threat and was slower and predictable.

Joe El Abd is coaching the BaBas. He was part of the coaching set-up at Castres that won the French Championship last season - with the most extraordinary defensive display. Is he looking for a job?

"Could be some interesting trips - Bordeaux and Agen, I would be very happy with. As I imagine would Backdoc!"

Indeed, and I include Bayonne as I have had two incredible rugby weekends there in the past.
We won in Bordeaux in the group stages in 2002/3 before winning the Parker Pen Trophy. Oogie scored an amazing try.
We drew in Agen in 2011 - Dai's first game [friendly]. I spent half the afternoon looking after Joe L who had a head/neck injury. Dai was hugely impressed with his new 1 [MacIntyre aged 19].

"Spink coming up is strange as he’s only 19 but I think this is some very clever salary cap working going on here."

Spink is very physically mature - very powerful. What is there to wait for?

Odogwu isn't that fast, which is a problem.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Latest from Dai

Surely the biggest issue is that Dai looks well beaten, and no one wants to join him in the coaching team, and of the players that are not contracted beyond this season [and Elliot], the better players are leaving.

Dai's dark place is a self-fulfilling prophesy.

We will not rise out of this hole without a cultural change.

North West London is now essentially Asian, with little taste for oval ball games.

The challenge would be for the French players to understand him....

'Given we live in a country that rejects prejudice and discrimination'

No we don't. We are now told what prejudice and discrimination are, and we are told when we have to ignore it. That in itself is prejudice and discrimination.

Backdoc = Lester. Live and work in Harrow [and St John's Wood]. Started supporting Wasps when I worked at Northwick Park Hospital in the 1980's and drove past the Sudbury ground every day. STH since the onset of the Professional game.

I deal with a number of sports professionally, and worked with Sarries for a decade. Currently working with England Cricket and deal with most of the county academy/professional players with back problems that need surgery. I get players from NZ, Aus and India as well.

I have been at all of Wasps Professional Finals, one as a Sarries guest! Two SA Lions tours [and will be at the next one]. I receive hospitality for one or two England games per season [and introduced Joe Launchbury to my 2007 Drunken Wasps European Tour shirt after the NZ game in November] but Wasps trump England for me.

Motorcyclist for 30 years, and have a house in SW France in the middle of rugby/foix gras/red wine and Armagnac country near Agen. Hoping that a Gascon diet will keep me fit and alive until I am 100 but the evidence suggests otherwise.
