Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Tackle height laws
« on: January 30, 2023, 04:06:43 PM »
Yet again, the law of unintended consequences will rule. For example, see this clash:

IMO the French player should have been yellow carded for dangerous play. Carrick did nothing wrong as far as I could see.

My point about ball carriers at pick and go.

Does this mean the end of pick and go drives from 5 m out  ,or indeed attackers ducking into tackles, to allow defenders to tackle legally? Surely a requirement of this law would be that attacker?s should remain upright .

Penalty kick time- is this from the ref blowing penalty decision ,or after the whooping and celebrating , then the huddle to decide if kicking for post or touch?

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Article in mail on Odogwu

Interesting interview covering  racial problems ( though seems not a problem at Wasps due to being a diverse lot already) . Enjoying time Paris , with no decision at moment about playing for a country as he wants to secure full time contract.

Also seems there are boxes of his and Umaga’s designer rugby tops sitting somewhere ,seized in the winding up

And what about him being appointed coach for the Barbarians ....

I cannot think of a team, other than Wasps, who would less benefit from his authoritarian 'do it my way' style of game management.

Has the world gone mad?

Liked Cipriani’s tweet about the appointment blowing his chances of getting picked for the Baa Baa’s

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Stephen Vaughan Speaks

Makes me wonder what ‘due diligence’  our CEO’s have taken before joining Wasps . I guess they get promises before signing a contract, ( and Vaughan has had 2/3 years of employment) but seem to remember Nic Eastwood saying it was only on day one of his tenure that he found out how bad things were . Think he said he came into work to find the winding up order on his desk?

Tenuous link. Noticed song that played out MOTD tonight was Nick Lowe’s Heart of the City , which happened to be last song performed by Lee Brilleaux at the Dr Feelgood Music Bar in Jan ‘94 , passing away 3 months later.

The good news for chez Wonky is that it appears that Hereford has a wheelchair rugby club so a friend has promised to research.

What position do you fancy having a go at?

My own view is that anyone involved in a national side of any sport, including physios, kit people etc need to qualify for  ‘residency’ of that country, just as much as players themselves.

Pudsey just tweeted being kept on at training ground with a couple of others to keep it ticking over.

Sounds positive that a team will emerge.

Any chance of starting a thread where at least the country is spelt right even if the team are crap.
That do you?

I was taking the typo as a commentary on Mad Eddie.

Excellent thanks.

I suggested adding an "F" to make it Fenland - a kind of boggy mess needing draining. Bit like English rugby top to bottom.

After your idea of perhaps Wasps moving to East Anglia ,being an untapped rugby area, was going to suggest Cambridge as being convenient for M11/A14 and trains. However after your description of the fens maybe not.
