Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Hope?
« on: October 30, 2022, 12:02:22 PM »
I've not watched a single game since Wasps folded, as I can't bring myself to. Frankly I don't care as long as it happens, I've supported them from London and Wycombe to Cov and will in Timbuktu if necessary...just as long as there is a club. If we can keep the core squad together as well,- even better. Everything is crossed this is not a false dawn !

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Feeling quite melancholy

Me too Harry the Wasp, I was there with my wife and 3 boys when Jimmy nailed that kick. Wasps has been a huge part of my life and that of my family. We have seen so many games live and on TV,  so many occasions  - good and bad results  ! All the players and coaches felt like part of the family too, - especially the ones who grew up there. Anyway didn't watch any rugby at the weekend, couldn't face it. We shall see what happens and just hope our club survives, somehow.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Wasps facing relegation
« on: October 12, 2022, 02:44:29 PM »
Just seen the tweet and I have to say I am devastated. I didn't think our last game would be on Saturday but it is looking increasingly like it. My whole family are supporters, I have so many happy memories of taking my 3 boys to games, Twickenham wins ( and losses), away visits to Irish, Bath etc- cannot comprehed it may all be over.
However despite how I feel I cannot imagine how the players, coaches and staff accross all the Wasps teams feel - sports careers are short and can be cruel with injuries but this is beyond all that and my heart and best wishes goes out to all of them. Let's just hope we can get through the mess with a club intact, let's hope for their sakes, if not our own.

Looking forward to the game, like others, with trepidation. Our first trek up to the CBS this season cannot be our last, I refuse to believe it will be.
However I'm expecting a tough encounter. The squad looks good, but so does theirs. However I'm hoping the occasion drives the boys on and the crowd gets behind them, I certainly will. COYW

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Semi-Finals

sadly not the final I wanted but 2 good, exciting games ( Saints will kick themselves, they lost that rather than Tiggers winning) . On a sour note, just cannot stand Sarries and the way they celebrate in the oppo's faces. I know its old fashioned but it's just goading, irritating and designed to wind up the opposition. I don't care how good they are ( and they were good) I just can't stand them... leaving the whole cheating bit aside !

Good point Rossm, however doesn't make up for basic errors like passing in front of running players. I don't think all is doom and gloom but we definitely need a revamp and not so many injuries to start next season. lest we forget the first half of the season was ridiculous with loanees, out of position players etc. let's hope we get a more settled start etc. Also best wishes Stookie, speedy recovery.

No Mike Brown for me, I was also a TV screamer..Pass the ball !! However FB  is just one position we are weak, centres are also struggling and one Saffer is not enough (We are loosing 3 JG, MF and Booj). All season our back play has been stilted, disjointed and predictable. Moments of brilliance, but too many moments of blandness. Personally I like Charlie and think he will grow, so too Crossdale and Spink but we need to build fluency, unpredictability and more pace into our game plans. Oh and a decent FB would not go amiss.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Our Backs
« on: May 21, 2022, 09:22:20 AM »
Agree with lots of comments especially the one that says backs will struggle without front foot or at least stable ball from the forwards BUT last night when we did get good ball how many passes were either head height, behind or unsympathetic to the receiver. very basic skills lacking which tells me low confidence. These guys are good, very good but clearly are not confident on either themselves, the systems they are playing or their colleagues....either way it needs sorting, by the coaches and themselves. Its a double edged sword

Morning All, coffee on a beautiful sunny day in West Sussex, great way to start a day. sadly no visit to France for us so will be cheering from the sofa. Think the squad looks sound, if we can keep our discipline and get our back line moving we will give it a right go. Safe travels to those going ( although I suspect most area already there !!) Enjoy. Morning...well afternoon actually from a grey west Sussex. Looking forward to the game, not overly fussed about the result, but obvs a win would be nice. Just want another positive display, no injuries and the returning players getting game time. Just have a feeling this might be beyond us, but thought that over the last 2 weeks so..what do I know !! Enjoy everyone and COYW

Leicester and Tolouse, who'd have thought 2 wins -amazing. Hats off to all the boys but calls to our new Argentinian Prop,  Biyi, Alfi B, Brad , Tim C just immense. So proud, so pleased and knackered

Morning all. Starting this cold, frosty day with a coffee and catch up on the disaster that is  currently English test cricket...what a shambles !
Not too sure about today. Normally love our European adventures but the format and covid have rather dampened my enthusiasum. However will be behind the boys, cheering them on from deepest Sussex. Great to see Paulo back, interesting to see Jacob at 15 and hope Biyi has got his breath back. Our chances are slim but hope is eternal. COYW!!

Agree with Shugs, lack of any invention or variation in attack - just phase after phase of running headlong into bigger players. We didn't deserve to win, and yes I have my Wasps Goggles on,  but also we were on the wrong end of quite a few decisions today. No way should Curry's try have been given and they were offside repeatedly to name but 2 -however giving the Ref lip is unforgivable. As I said, it didn't loose us the game, we were just not capable of thinking on our feet and changing things up. Never mind, onto the nest COYW!!

Had a very cold, but fantastic time there this pm. The women's game was very entertaining- bit cheesed off for the late call off but decided to stay and watch and very pleased we did.
