Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: The Glaws game
« on: March 23, 2019, 05:28:43 PM »
Ok - this is not a considered posting - but there are times when changes are needed, and there are many options how that change might be done - but look at Saints - no one would argue they are man for man a great side, but their coaching and ethos has made them over the course of this season a team greater than the sum of the parts

We've done the opposite - on paper that was a decent side - yet we played for too much of the the game like there is something missing. I can't know what the problem is - some closer to the club (hopefully to post) will say - but no one should escape criticism from top to bottom.

I've been a keen defender of Dai and the team - but something is not working and something needs to change and soon or else next season will look rather average too.

So WTF is going on?

Anyone

(Pub in an hour....can't wait!)

I have heard that a lot of the players don’t like Dai’s management, that could be the problem.

5 points ahead of Worcester is a concern, something does need to be done. I don’t think we have as good a team lined up for next season, unless other signings are going to be announced. Very worried

3 points in the last 60 minutes is not going to worry any team.

It’s so sad how we have dropped so much in just a year, the signings in the summer were a concern and this is the result.

So disappointing after 3 enjoyable but winless seasons. Are we worst then the Adams park days?

Gloucester Rugby
15. Jason Woodward; 14. Tom Marshall, 13. Billy Twelvetrees, 12. Mark Atkinson, 11. Ollie Thorley; 10. Danny Cipriani, 9. Willi Heinz (capt); 1. Josh Hohneck, 2. Franco Marais, 3. Fraser Balmain; 4. Ed Slater, 5. Franco Mostert; 6. Ruan Ackermann, 7. Jaco Kriel, 8. Ben Morgan

Replacements
Henry Walker, 17. Val Rapava Ruskin, 18. Ruan Dreyer, 19. Freddie Clarke, 20. Jake Polledri, 21. Ben Vellacott, 22. Matt Banahan, 23. Charlie Sharples.

Really pleased that the 2nd row has launchbury and Gaskell. Back row is pretty good, should do well there.

9/10 is a worry especially when you see who Gloucester have. I really hope we win, will be pleasantly surprised if we do

Most disappointing part was his tackling. At least twice a decent tackle could have killed a Scottish try.

It does seem to be a problem, which he has had all the time that I’ve seen him.

When playing at 13 he did fall off several tackles a season.

I like a lot of what Daly does, when running with the ball it is very smooth and attractive looking, he does seem to glide.

Considering his down falls, tackling and under the high ball, I’m surprised that he is so highly regarded at the very top level.

He is a good player but a great player, I’m not convinced.

I think if he plays on the wing for sarries, his weakness will be less exposed. For me that’s the position I would play him

Just for fun, ED waving Scotland through and then taking out a cameraman, Itoje high fiving and whooping from his seat ;-) Great capture from Ed Jackson.....I may have made the Itoje bit up...

It really does look like he makes no Attempt to avoid the sound man.

I personally believe Daly will play left wing for Sarries or 13. I doubt McCall will play Daly at 15, as I think McCall knows what he is doing

I think Danny will be off to another country. Edwards or no Edwards, he's been screwed over too many times to have any real desire to stick around in the UK. And I for one don't blame him at all.

Maybe, but moving to another country probably means moving away from his mum. We've just lost some very large paychecks, and can push most our incoming ones into marquee status. Sopoaga to 12?

I don't think it'd happen myself, but I'd not say it's impossible.

I would love to see that happen, I believe Sopoaga would do really well with Cips at 10

To temper expectations, from another random internet dweller, who may or may not have true info, he's heard Edwards has turned Wasps down.

I'd heard the same. But rumours are rumours and mean little but the official announcement is made.

That would be very disappointing, let’s hope the rumours are not true. Personally would have Edwards over DY

Sadly, no surprises...with nearly a first choice pack (and great subs used) it surely would be time to play the best ball in hand backline?

But no, we play a backline which in the three games (when selected) never made more than three passes from the centres (per game) and a backline that supported the kick the ball away and press tactics...

Won't worry the RWC favs and also anyone who saw how Wales dealt with it.
Daly, Nowell, Slade, Tuilagi, May; Farrell, Youngs; Moon, George, Sinckler, Launchbury, Kruis, Wilson, Curry, B Vunipola.

Replacements: Cowan-Dickie, Genge, Cole, Shields, Hughes, Spencer, Ford, Te'o

Cokanasiga out. Elliot and Joe start. Brad and Nathan on the bench

Got to feel for Cokanasiga, gets man of the match then gets dropped. Bit harsh

Announced on Offy. A welcome bit of news but we need something bigger.

He has done a lot better than a lot of people thought he would do. Hopefully comes back soon in the same form

It seems to be starting to come out how they are enticing players without "breaking" the cap.

I wonder if Daly is on his way to being a company director now...

What so they can buy more England internationals
